Assistant Director – RWE Retrospective Analysis

Home-based, TX, US.

In collaboration with project engagement leads, the candidate will provide clinical and statistical programming expertise to health economics and outcomes research studies to support pharmaceutical, biotech, and device technologies. The candidate will serve as the content developer for the implementation and reporting of burden of illness, comparative effectiveness, health resource utilization and cost studies and other database analyses within real-world evidence (RWE).  

This is a remote opportunity for candidates located in the United States. 

Part-time work arrangements may be considered on a case-by-case basis. 

Primary Duties And Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as the analytics lead for RWE and outcomes research studies – from study initiation to final reporting – in collaboration with the project engagement lead. 
  • Lead all tasks associated with data validation, data management and statistical analysis for RWE studies within the retrospective data analysis team 
  • Ensure the accuracy of study results and participate in quality check processes to maintain the highest quality output consistent with Cencora’s mission and vision. 
  • Contribute to the development of template programs and establishment of SAS, SQL, R and Stata programming standards, to ensure consistency and efficiency across the department. 
  • Assist the client manager in development of content for study protocols, study reports, slide decks, abstracts, posters, publications, and other presentation of scientific findings. 
  • Provide RWE analytics expertise to the prospective studies team and other Cencora service lines  
  • Aid in the development and mentorship of junior staff.  Ability to take a team management role is a plus. 

What your background should look like 

Experience And Educational Requirements: 

Master or post-graduate degree (eg, PhD, DrPH, PharmD) in Health Economics, Biostatistics, Health Services Research, Epidemiology, Pharmacy Administration, or other relevant discipline, and a minimum of 5 years post-graduate experience in data analysis (preferably in an academic, consulting or healthcare industry setting) 

Minimum Skills, Knowledge And Ability Requirements: 

  • Practical experience in database management and statistical analysis using SAS-BASE and SAS-STAT; Intermediate-level SAS proficiency is mandatory. Experience with Snowflake, SQL, Stata or R is a plus. 
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the analysis of healthcare claims databases and/or electronic medical records. 
  • Broad technical knowledge of outcomes research and health economics 
  • Excellent writing and verbal skills with the ability to communicate complex material during presentations and discussions in a straightforward manner 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Strong work ethic 
  • Function as a team player 
  • Structured and well organized
  • Ability to work well in a dynamic, successful consulting firm, which maintains high quality standards and demands excellence
  • Database management and analytical and statistical skills
  • Economic modeling skills
  • Medical writing skills
  • Experience developing outcomes research/health economics study protocols
  • Strong clinical skills preferred
