The Supervisor, Market Access in the Patient Therapy Access Department (PTA) will oversee all day-to-day processes related to assisting our patients with their pre-authorizations. Additionally, they will be responsible for delivering prior authorization related education to external customers and ensuring the efficient operation of the PTA department. The Market Access Supervisor is responsible for managing attendance, schedule adherence, and coverage assignment. They will also be responsible for training and supervising the activities of all their assigned direct reports.

What You’ll Work On

  • Demonstrate the ability to lead by example within the department, to the Field Sales Team and the organization providing direct support for the PTA Manager and Director.
  • Provide direct supervision in approving schedule changes and monitoring program attendance.
  • Develop coverage and assignment strategies that align with business needs.
  • Work independently and in collaboration with the PTA Leadership Team to drive improvements in tactical and strategic planning.
  • Assist the PTA Leadership Team with special projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Promote teamwork and a positive work atmosphere among all team members.
  • Demonstrate understanding of PTA SOPs and lead by example within the department, with assigned Abbott Businesses, and with customers.
  • Provide direct support to PTA leadership.
  • Work in collaboration with the PTA Leadership Team to drive process improvements in tactical and strategic planning.
  • Provide supervision and guidance to assigned PTA Specialists in maintaining their caseloads and general duties.
  • Responsible for specific “over and above” duties as defined and designated by the PTA Leadership.
  • Provide support and back up to PTA Leadership.
  • Serve as “subject matter experts” and mentors to all PTA Team Members and Business Unit Partners.
  • Assist with maintaining and developing approved materials for PTA.
  • Promote customer engagement by leading educational calls with provider offices and address customer grievances.
  • Ensure departmental productivity and quality standards are upheld.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews for direct reports to evaluate their performance against their set goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years’ relevant experience in lieu of a 4-year degree.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a utilization (medical approval), payer, or healthcare economics and reimbursement environment or similar work experience.
  • Prior supervisory experience or demonstration of ability to lead others.
  • General knowledge of private insurance, Worker’s Compensation and Medicare guidelines pertaining to Prospective and Retrospective Utilization Review.
  • Experience in medical device or DME Billing a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word & Excel specifically).
  • Knowledge of current CPT codes and familiarity with ICD-10CM (diagnosis coding).
  • Ability to accurately meet required time frames/deadlines.
  • Ability to work as a team player while informally leading other team members.
  • Excellent communication skills; verbal and written.
  • Ability to train/present concepts to others.

The base pay for this position is $57,300.00 – $114,700.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
