Market Access Medicines Lead

As a Market Access Medicines Lead, your role is pivotal in co-creating with (HEOR) Health Economics and Outcomes Research and implementing national (HTA) Health Technology Assessment strategies (for England, Scotland, and Wales, if required), and gaining alignment across the business, including vendor selection and management. You will lead the development and implementation of a national payer strategy, maximizing opportunities within the UK policy framework to enable rapid and sustainable access to Astellas’ innovative portfolio.

Your responsibilities include collaborating with medical and HEOR to ensure external input is incorporated at an early stage into the HTA strategy and modeling approach, including clinical and economic advice. Seeking opportunities to understand and implement changes in payer policy to support access to Astellas’ brands.

Additionally, you will partner with the local Brand Team to ensure Market Access requirements are embedded in the Affiliate Brand Plan, aligned with other local priorities, and representing payer/market access interests. Drive a culture of Ethics and Compliance, ensuring Integrity in Action is actively applied in all initiatives and proactively address non-compliance.

Key Activities for this role:

  • Lead the UK market access process to ensure robust and timely submissions to HTA bodies in the UK, working cross-functionally with the HEOR, medical and brand teams at an affiliate level and with global market access, and pricing, where relevant
  • Contribute to the co-creation of the National Value Strategy Plan, identifying evidence gaps, both clinical and economic and proposing solutions to address the gaps to the global value teams, and developing and delivering a local HTA plan for the requisite portfolio.
  • End-to-end co-management with HEOR of HTA submissions, ensuring timely alignment on strategy with affiliate teams and global.
  • Input into strategic price-setting at a global level, supporting the local price negotiation process and identifying innovative solutions for market access, including innovative pricing / contracting arrangements with national payers.
  • Understand and anticipate market regulations and rules on assigned medicines, as well as competitor activity.
  • Work collaboratively with the Affiliate (MA) Market Access/(HEOR) Health Economics and Outcomes Research to ensure Market Access requirements are embedded into Core Medical Plans as well as in the Global development plans.

Essential Knowledge & Experience:

  • Extensive experience in a Market Access role in the Pharma sector with strong patient/customer focus, in multi-disciplinary, matrix and global context.
  • Proven track record in developing innovative pricing / access strategies and negotiating with national payers to gain access for products.
  • Evidenced success in driving price execution to deliver optimal commercial return.
  • Strong experience in developing HTA strategies and delivering HTA submissions.
  • Extensive expertise in devising and implementing market access strategies and achieving exceptional results for product.

Preferred Knowledge & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or Heath Economics or equivalent.

Educations/Qualifications:

  • Experience of relevant Therapeutic Area and good scientific awareness relative to drug development.

Additional Information:

  • Type of role full fixed term contract for 6 months and part time.
  • Location UK (Addlestone).
  • This position follows our hybrid working model. The role requires a blend of home and minimum 2 days per month in our UK office. Flexibility may be required in line with business needs. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance of the office.
