Where Can I Find a Freelance Health Economist?

You have a recruitment gap in your health economics team. Or a project that needs extra support: an HTA submission, a cost-effectiveness model, a country-specific dossier. You need a freelance health economist, and you need one soon.

You’ve probably already tried the obvious routes

You asked colleagues and your professional network for recommendations. Sometimes that works. Often it doesn’t. The right person isn’t always in your circle, and the process takes time you don’t have.

You searched LinkedIn. You found profiles, but no reliable way to evaluate who is genuinely good, what their availability looks like, what they charge, or whether they have the specific experience your project requires.

You contacted life sciences recruitment agencies. Most of them focus on permanent placements. That’s their business model. Freelance health economics work requires more than matching a CV to a job description. It requires understanding what an HTA submission involves, what kind of modelling expertise a project needs, which country-specific requirements matter. Most agencies don’t have that knowledge.

How EuropeanHealthEconomics.com can help

EuropeanHealthEconomics.com is the specialised job board for health economists, run by health economists. Through the job board, over the years, we’ve built a large and actively maintained pool of experienced freelance health economists.

This isn’t a static database. We track who is available, who is currently on projects, and who has recently joined the freelance market. When you need someone with specific disease area expertise, country-level HTA experience, or a particular modelling skill set, we draw on both our curated freelancer pool and the wider reach of the job board to find the right person.

There’s something else that matters here. If you’ve ever worked with a recruiter who didn’t understand what you actually do, you know how frustrating that is. We are health economists. We understand the technical requirements, the deliverables, the timelines, the difference between a budget impact model and a cost-utility analysis. That’s how we screen and select freelancers who genuinely match what your project needs.

How it works

You get in touch by email, through our contact form, or on a call. Tell us about your project: the therapeutic area, the target HTA body, when the work should start, how long it might take, and whether you need someone part-time or full-time.

Within a couple of days, we come back with two to three CVs of experienced health economists who fit what you’re looking for.

You review the CVs, interview the candidates directly, and choose the person you want to work with. The freelancer reports to you and is managed by you. The contractual arrangement runs through EuropeanHealthEconomics.com: we handle invoicing and pay the freelancer, so the admin stays simple on your end.
