We are looking for a Market Access Strategy Lead, Rare Disease to join our Market Access & Pricing team based in the US.

About the role:

The Market Access Strategy Lead will deliver patient value through coordination and development of the market access strategy supporting affordable access for impending launch assets in Rare Disease. The lead will assess and manage the access environment, including needs for contracting, evolution of value proposition, and production of evidence to support value proposition and desired access position.

Who’ll you’ll work with:

This individual will work collaboratively across the Market Access and Pricing (MAP) Global and US teams to support the development and execution of rare disease product portfolio pricing and contracting strategies, aligned with brand objectives, competitive environment and goal of ensuring optimal access and affordability for patients.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop market access solutions strategy to effectively support access and patient affordability for rare and orphan products
  • Support the development of the US pricing and access strategy for key pipeline & in-line assets
  • Advise on patient affordability and patient support strategies to help align patient support to the access strategy to ensure a positive patient experience
  • Solve unique problems in well-defined small populations that have different needs and could involve genetic testing as a part of the value proposition
  • Work strategically with the brand team on product positioning, patient service programs and distribution
  • Develop market access landscape assessments for products across indications (e.g., neurology, hematology) and reimbursement methods (e.g., buy and bill, specialty pharmacy, home health care, etc.)
  • Implement the US access plan including, but not limited to, projects supporting distribution strategy, payer value position, and pricing strategy for rare and ultra-rare products at launch and during the products lifecycle
  • Support evolution of the RWE and HEOR plans to enhance the value proposition/story and access engagement materials and messages by cultivating strong relationships with global and US medical teams
  • Design and implement optimized payer solutions to effectively support rare disease payer strategies and manage vendor/supplier partners including creative solutions for nonpromotional activities
  • Serve as a consultant to finance in developing the 10 year plan delivering information on factors impacting gross to net; not limited to distribution, payer access and patient services
  • Build effective partnerships with payer account teams (national, regional, specialty pharmacy, distribution) by educating on access ambition, product details, targeting and contracting strategy
  • Build a team that focuses on ultra rare contracting, pricing and value propositions and supports the commercial efforts
  • Develop marketing materials to support pull-through of access with field sales teams, field reimbursement teams and payer account teams
  • Strategize with contracts and pricing, payer account management and the Rare Disease Organization to optimize access and tactics across Commercial, Medicare, VA/DOD & Medicaid, within both pharmacy and medical benefit designs
  • Work cross functional with trade and supply chain to drive stocking for US commercialization
  • Efficiently communicate with Senior Leadership on changes to policies that impact pricing, access and affordability to rare disease products
  • Research and analyze legislative and managed care environment and coordinate with payer account team to provide new potential solutions for contracting to deliver strategic partnerships with payers to accomplish strategic access objectives

Interested? For this role we’re looking for the following education, experience and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5+ years of relevant pharmaceutical / healthcare experience (including biologics or specialty pharmaceuticals)
  • Rare disease market access pricing and access strategy launch experience
  • Experience developing pricing research and recommendation to support value proposition
  • Understanding government programs and associated regulations and the ability to determine the resulting impact of contacting strategies on gross to net
  • Patient Support Services knowledge for rare disease
  • Knowledge of modeling for contracting implications for patient access and affordability

Expected Salary Range: $195,000-260,000 based on experience.
