The Director (HEOR) Research Strategy position will lead the development and implementation health economic strategies to support market access, reimbursements and evidence generation. This position will collaborate closely with Market Access, U.S. Medical Affairs, Global Integrated Evidence Generation to set the strategy for health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) and real-world evidence strategy (RWE) for the U.S.
Please note, this position is a Whippany, NJ based opening, not a Residence based role.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Director (HEOR) Research Strategy, are to:
- The Director (HEOR) Research Strategy will be responsible for working with the HEOR Field Team in the development and implementation of a data generation research strategy. This will include the conduct of outcomes research studies in close collaboration with other functional areas in U.S. Medical Affairs, U.S. Market Access, Global Integrated Evidence Generation, Global Market Access, and more;
- The Director will also be responsible for advising on the conduct and design of all external collaborative studies conducted with key customers, academics, and/or institutions;
- The Director will be responsible for leading outcomes research strategic planning, contributing outcomes research expertise and data generation colleagues, including: Collaboration with Market Access, Commercial, U.S. Medical Affairs to identify evidence needs and ensure generation of robust evidence package to support product’s value proposition to stakeholders in the U.S.;
- Provide evidence strategy leadership to key internal cross functional teams, U.S. and global;
- Responsible for overall research strategy including development of study design & conduct, identification of data source, and publication plan;
- Responsible for the strategic development and execution of research plan to support the economic value story for product. Any research should have the stakeholder – HCP/ payer lens in mind and should generate data/ information to help bring value to critical stakeholders;
- Assist in the development of research budgets and assist in management of budgeted funds;
- Ensure execution of all research studies according to defined study timelines as well as budgets;
- Monitor relevant Data Generation related U.S. policy relevant to the specific therapeutic area(s);
- Participate in business planning and annual budgeting process;
- Jointly develop and manage research partnerships with academia, thought leaders, payers and other customers, and contract research organizations;
- Attend and present at professional meetings.
WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D., Pharm.D. or M.Sc. required in healthcare related discipline with experience in Real World Evidence and Health Outcomes Economic Research with interface with business units as well as managed markets executives;
- Strong understanding of current U.S. Healthcare system required;
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. payers and payer organizations required;
- Knowledge of HEOR disciplines including drafting clinical & health economic outcome documents (i.e. clinical protocols, clinical reports, integrated summaries and/or a clinical development plans, economic dossiers and technology assessments) as well as an in-depth understanding of clinical statistics and evidenced based medicine;
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills;
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to work independently;
- Excellent strategic thinking;
- Clear demonstration of Business Acumen;
- Demonstrates clear leadership and the ability to interact and work cross functionally;
- Ability to develop strong internal and external relationships.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8+ years of industry experience, preferred;
- Direct payer experience a plus;
- Strong clinical knowledge & scientific expertise in in cardiovascular and specialty markets is preferred.
