Patient Value & Access Manager

Vilnius, Lithuania.

Role Objective:

  • Engage in strong long-term professional relationships with payers and other stakeholders and act as the “one voice” for LOC (local operating country) to payers and institutional affairs stakeholders in conjunction with the Commercial Head Latvia and Lithuania and market access team in Baltics.
  • Contribute to Takeda’s portfolio development by providing local input on evidence needs and access developments into pipeline products and business development activities.
  • Leveraging and connecting the dots between public affairs, patient advocacy, value demonstration, market access and commercial aligned with Takeda objectives and Values.
  • The ultimate objective is to achieve and maintain broadest patient access at a price that follows corporate guidance within the shortest time to market and with a minimum of reimbursement restrictions.
  • Contribute supporting HCPs to take informed decisions around treatment choices, enabling eligible patients to benefit from our innovative medicines.

Accountabilities

Market Access Strategy & Execution:

  • Monitors marketplace dynamics and anticipates healthcare trends and changes. Ensures timely and effective response in close contact with PV&A Managers in Latvia and Estonia, Commercial Head Latvia and Lithuania and PV&A Head MCO EE to develop, lead and communicate the short term and long-term market access strategies for the LOC’s portfolio in line with the overall roadmap.
  • Translates and communicates strategies into implementable tactics and ensures smooth execution by cooperation with/coordination of cross-functional team members (medical, marketing, sales, market access, business support, etc.).
  • Contributes to the development of recommendations for the introduction of Takeda´s pipeline products and the assessment of in-licensing opportunities.
  • Ensures compliance with corporate policies, procedures, and processes as well as with local regulations and policies.
  • Ensures protection and expansion of reimbursement and access to funding of all commercially approved products.
  • Ensures effective price governance and delivers pricing and access MRP commitments.
  • Interacting independently with Health Care Professionals as per need of daily tasks.

Public Affairs:

  • Identifies tier-1 decision-makers, key influencers and stakeholder groups including private or public institutions for existing and new products to establish/manage/ extend professional relationships in close collaboration with Medical and Business Units.
  • Works with local and regional policymakers in relation to Health Policy.
  • Participates in national-level industry forums and market access working groups to represent the company´s interest.
  • Engages in health policy-shaping activities in favor of the company´s and patients interest to maximize access to Takeda´s products to a broad patient population, using smartly industry forums.
  • Understands local legal and regulatory platform, its strengths and gaps, and can address it as a part of Public policy management.
  • Anticipates and interactively discusses scientific, legal, financial and business topics with representatives to ensure business deals meet or exceed requirements.

Patient Advocacy:

  • Develops integrated Patient Strategy partnering with other functions based on strategic patient insights and business needs to shape the portfolio strategy by anticipating the evolution of the overall economic and political environment and how this may impact the patient community and Takeda’s business.
  • Leads and sustains strategic partnerships with patient advocacy organizations addressing patient needs through innovative collaborations that advance patient goals and business objectives.
  • Development of social media and diseases awareness communications strategy and relationship with healthcare journalists.
  • Supports LOC / MCO Patient Advocacy Leads with technical and strategic expertise.
  • Supports Takeda’s corporate philosophy and strategy to focus on improving patient outcomes.

Pricing and Reimbursement:

  • Prepares a customer-tailored value proposition for high-level pricing and reimbursement.
  • Initiates, develops and executes pricing and contract strategies that relate to competitive products and new entrant´s market position and formulate a competitive response that ensures financial goals are met.
  • Responsible for leading and developing local pricing and reimbursement strategy to grow Takeda´s business within compliance and legal requirements.
  • Initiate and implement the most effective and timely in-field strategy and tactics to obtain and maintain local price and patient access for innovative products in the market.
  • Responsible for overseeing local adaptations of MCO and Global value dossiers.
  • Participate at congresses, meetings, and training based on company requirements and Market Access strategy.
  • Provide support to the marketing strategies of products by understanding the critical importance of cross-border and local market access policies for business success.
  • Aligns with BUs, Medicals, and Finance to evaluate and recommend effective contract and value-based access strategies, analysis, negotiation and pricing tools and strategies for all current and future products.

Health Economics and Outcome Research:

  • Implements company´s local HEOR and RWE strategy in close alignment with Commercial Country Head Latvia and Lithuania, PV&A Head MCO EE, Medical MCO/LOC and Marketing teams.
  • Gives input for the design of studies & database proposed by corporate and/or local teams are fit for purpose in collecting evidence to optimize and maintain access status.
  • Collaborates with PV&A Head MCO EE and Medical and RWE leads on development, analysis and communication of health economics data and new clinical evidence for both new and existing products already on the market (defend reimbursement status and price as well as promoting acceptance of and maintenance of products on recommendation lists) and drives agreed initiatives in the country.

Administration, monitoring and controlling:

  • Checks constantly the efficiency of tactical measures & programs and takes corrective actions if required.
  • Supports adherence to defined local & shared service processes for smooth handling of internal workflows incl. ordering & purchasing, invoices operation, promo-material-clearing, etc.
  • Ensures that quality standards and legal & internal requirements are met, and Takeda remains responsible to its corporate values, employees, customers, and stakeholders.
  • Monitoring compliance-related regulations/industry association positions to proactively identify emerging regulatory issues, development in industry practices and standards, and compliance risk trends.
  • Ensures policies and procedures are in line with local laws and regulations as well as compliant with Takeda SOP.

  • High level of strategic and analytical thinking around value demonstration.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset combined with solid business acumen.
  • Strong project management skills.

Experience and Education

  • University degree in health sciences, public health, health economics or relevant field (will be considered an asset).
  • Minimum two years of experience in Market access and external affairs, or a minimum of five years in the innovative pharmaceutical industry on a commercial and/or medical position.
  • Proven results in launching pharmaceutical products from a pricing and reimbursement perspective in the market.
  • Good understanding of national and European Pricing and HTA systems.
  • Knowledge of the market’s national healthcare system and experience in communicating and negotiating with healthcare decision-makers and managing complex networks
  • Driving license required
