Global Pricing Director

Leadership role to provide alignment on pricing activities and decisions between Products, Regions, and Countries. Purpose of the role is approving price variation request (as per threshold defined by Global Pricing Governance), or escalating approval to the right level of the organization (as per threshold defined by Global Pricing Governance). The role is pivotal with GPPS/Value & Access and regions/countries to drive optimal asset/product pricing decision. The role is also responsible for bringing key inputs to optimal product pricing strategy development and update, being a pivotal contributor to GPPS/Value & Access product strategy elaboration; throughout product lifecycle (from launch, post launch renegotiations and up to loss of exclusivity). Asset/product scope spans from Ipsen core products, pipeline products to external opportunities (in partnership with relevant department). He/ She will drive Ipsen, above asset/product, pricing strategy and provides pricing expertise to transversal projects and thoughtful leadership at Global level.

Main responsibilities / job expectations

  • Drive optimal asset/product pricing decision playing a pivotal role with GPPS/Value & Access and regions/countries.
    • Drive price decision at the right level of the organization by enforcing Global Pricing Governance and Global Pricing Policies as to balance Patient Access/Payer ability to pay/Ipsen Asset value
    • Provide AVPSC with robust recommendation, ahead of the committee meeting
    • Approve price variation request, within mandate defined by Global Pricing Governance
    • Develop and implement strategies to seek price increase or to minimize price reductions, in strong collaboration with North America and International senior management
  • Responsible for bringing key inputs to optimal product pricing strategy development and update, being a pivotal contributor to GPPS/Value & Access product strategy elaboration.
    • Drive existing Global Pricing Policy update by providing relevant pricing expertise and analysis
    • Deploy final Global Pricing Strategy (e.g affiliate communication)
    • For Business Development target and early products (phase I & II) contribute to preliminary Pricing Strategy definition according to scenarios provided by Business Development department
    • Contribute to Asset team, as a key member of the Value & Access sub-team (providing pricing perspective and expertise into key discussions and decisions) 
  • Drive Ipsen, above asset/product, pricing strategy
    • Anticipate potential changes to Pricing & Reimbursement (P&R) environment by performing a regular monitoring and review (e.g., Region/countries IRP, clawback rules evolution, potential net pricing transparency implementation…)
    • Lead Ipsen Tiered Pricing framework regular update
  • Support all operational (Budget…) and strategic (LRP…) Global plans with appropriate pricing assumptions.
  • Monitor leading/most innovative pricing approaches and evaluate/propose relevant opportunities.
  • Ensure transversal collaboration with all key stakeholders.

Required Experiences:

  • Global Pricing experience would be ideal, alternatively Market Access, business or finance experience at country, regional or global level
  • International reference pricing, launch sequencing knowledge/experience
  • Health economics understanding (understand key drivers and interpretation of health economics and cost-effectiveness models)
  • Pricing approaches knowledge (e.g. Value Based Pricing)
  • Ability to apply methods to set optimal price (e.g. price differentiation for multiple indications or treatment lines, differential pricing feasibility within/across geographies etc.)
  • Understanding of ability to pay/affordability considerations and solutions (e.g. tiered pricing)
  • Ability to apply profitability concepts: net commercial prices, gross margin COI as to potentially recommend net commercial price considerations
  • Effectively communicates rationale in support of recommended pricing strategy
  • Can assess impact of and implements managed entry schemes (e.g., risk identification, mitigation planning and performance management of schemes)
  • Can drive identification and need for creating alternative pricing solutions (e.g., international differential pricing) and associated internal communication platform.
