The person in these positions will provide epidemiological, statistical and analytical support for all studies involving the HEOR department as well as assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive and scientifically rigorous health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) program Globally. In addition, registries or other vendor-run research studies within medical affairs may be managed by the HEOR employee. The Global HEOR employee will support the company’s strategic initiaitves and will align with commercial goals.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
● Provides strategic planning, design input, and implementation of health outcomes programs
● Oversees and manages vendors conducting registries, outcomes, and pharmacoeconomic research within Medical Affairs
● Performs statistical analysis and complete data management using SAS, or similar, statistical software)
● Works with internal teams (e.g., marketing, managed markets, clinical development) to support outomes research, quality of life, and pharmacoeconomic initiaitves
● Coordinates with global teams to support pharmacoeconomic and outcomes data generation relevant to reimbursement and other strategic objectives
● Develops and maintains relationships with key opinioin leaders and influencers in the outomes research environment
● Ensures an epidemiology perspective is adequately and appropriately reflected in study protocols, analysis plans, publications, professional presentations, and regulatory documents
● Supports managed markets/market access efforts to generate and publish outcomes data relevant to the company’s strategic objectives
● Develops health outcomes proposals including study design, timelines, resource requirements, and budget
● Ensures that statistical analyses and submission datasets meet specific regulatory requirements
● Works with publications group to ensure production of abstracts, posters, and manuscripts from conducted studies
● The Senior Manager of Global HEOR will design, develop, oversee and/or execute Global Health Economic and Outcomes Research (HEOR) in support of existing and new clinical applications in coordination with Global and US: Commercial, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, as well as Regional Market Access and the US and International/Affiliates

- MD, PhD, or PharmD with health economics fellowship or Master’s degree in health economics or outcomes research
- 5+ years experience in health related outcomes research in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology or device environment
- High knowledge of health outcomes research methodologies, statistics, study design, data collection and implementation
- Ability to manage vendors conducting HEOR work and manage associated budgets
- Must be able to work with multiple internal (US and Global) groups, as well as develop relationships with external key opinion leaders
- Must have excellent communications skills and be able to present proposals and HEOR data to internal stakeholders and external customers
- Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements. Example: If a job level requires a Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience, an equivalency could include 8 years of experience, an Associate’s degree with 6 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience.
Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 6-8 hours per day. Repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Frequently walks. Occasionally bends and twists neck. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 30lbs. Frequently drives to site locations with occasional travel within the United States. Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups.
