Market Access, Governmental Affairs & Pricing Director

Belgium.

This position is based in Belgium, but covers Belgium, Luxemburg, and The Netherlands (Benelux scope).

The Market Access, Governmental Affairs & Pricing Director is a key member of Almirall Benelux Leadership Team, involved in the strategical cross-functional meetings, paying an active role in shaping the commercial strategy and company value. He/she leads, executes and manages the Market Access and Pricing strategy for our complete product portfolio with special emphasis on prescription drugs & immune-mediated medicines or biologics. He/she will be responsible to communicate payer value and differentiation of Almirall brands to secure optimal reimbursement, price and access criteria across the life cycle of our brands. He/she will work in close collaboration with Global functions (such as Market Access, Medical, Regulatory, Commercial, R&D and Business Development) and local operations to ensure the effective execution of market access and pricing initiatives. Reporting to the General Manager Benelux, the successful candidate will lead the Market Access team, with functional reporting to the Global Medical & Market Access lead.

Core Responsibilities

  • Functional leadership of market access team. Actively participate to the leadership team, establishing key brands and portfolio value.
  • Market Access & Pricing responsibility for the entire portfolio, with a special focus on the immunology products being commercialized and ready to be launched.
  • Convey payer’s value story of Almirall portfolio.
  • Collaborate in the definition of the key brands strategy. Set the strategic direction and drive the implementation of activities and programs to ensure optimal pricing & reimbursement in Benelux, and formulary access for products in collaboration with Pricing & Tenders Manager in The Netherlands.
  • Identify potential risks and provide recommendations on initiatives to optimize price and reimbursement strategies to optimize long term profitability.
  • Continuous awareness of the competitive landscape and market dynamics. Understand of international reference pricing. Knowledge of rules and regulations (current and forthcoming).
  • Create local value propositions (and core value dossiers) based on Global material, comparative effectiveness arguments, and payer value messages including usage of health-economic evidence where needed to assist in securing target pricing and market access.
  • Oversee payers’ negotiations and contracting to succeed in achieving target price and timely access. Engage with key stakeholders involved in payer’s decisions.
  • Recommend necessary HEOR/Medical or other programs to support the above strategies and engage the appropriate external stakeholders to facilitate pricing, reimbursement, and market uptake.
  • Valuation of discretionary or obligatory impact arising from any change of reimbursement status or price level of products marketed by the company.
  • Support the pricing function to secure timely approval of launch prices and price changes within the internal governance and systems.
  • The position is expected to work very closely with the various local functions, Global Commercial, Market Access and Medical Affairs and other relevant functions, playing an active role in shaping the commercial product portfolio strategy and ensuring optimal pricing and access in Benelux.

Education

  • University degree in Life Sciences, Engineering or Business.
  • Master´s degree in Health Economics or Market Access.
  • MBA is a plus.

Skills

  • Strong stakeholder management skills. Market access stakeholder’s mapping, understanding of payer committee structures and decision drivers.
  • Proven ability to develop relationship with governments, payers, regulators, and relevant KOLs.
  • Strategic thinking and tactical execution.
  • Results oriented with strong analytical skills and business mindset.
  • Relevant knowledge of health economic modelling, payer and HTA systems in Belgium, ideally also in The Netherlands.
  • Leadership skills. Influencing skills.
  • Manages well ambiguity & complexity, including several projects with competing priorities.
  • Capable of working in a fast-moving corporate environment.
  • Effective presentation and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Experience in immunology is recommended, dermatology is a plus.
  • Fluent level of French, Flemish and English.

Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in the healthcare industry and/or related consulting firms, with a focus on Market Access for at least 10 years.
  • Experience in access negotiation with payers and national bodies.
  • Experience in managing high value-added products and the launch of innovative medicines with substantial payer implication (biologics medicines).
