Intern, US Value and Access

The BioMarin Summer Internship Program will enable students to gain valuable experience and knowledge of the processes and systems within BioMarin, while gaining an insight into the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. Over the course of 10 – 12 weeks our interns gain industry experience while working alongside our talented team on meaningful projects.

The US Value and Access organization is recruiting a self-motivated intern who will be contributing to the overall US Value and Access plan by supporting the market access strategies and advancing patient access to life-saving therapies.

The Intern will benefit from mentoring, coaching and side-by-side engagement with knowledgeable and experienced industry experts. Candidates will receive a hands-on learning experience in the Value and Access field. The experience will provide exposure to the medical, health economic and outcomes research (HEOR) and commercial functions within the BioMarin enterprise and prepare the candidate for a field-based HEOR liaison or managed market account management role.

JOB DESCRIPTION/PROJECT:

  • Assist the cross-functional team in the development of US brand strategy and support its implementation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to cultivate relationships with prioritized stakeholders by planning payer advisory boards and other payer engagement activities.
  • Support the US Value & Access teams (Value & Access Strategy, Managed Market, and Market Access and Pricing Strategy) in developing resources / tools for customer engagements and provide insights to internal medical teams on evidence gaps relevant to specific accounts.
  • Monitor emerging scientific evidence, market research and insights activities, and leverage clinical expertise to identify meaningful insights to US Value and Access teams.
  • Support agency of record and third-party vendors to develop and execute promotional tactics in alignment with global and US brand strategy, as necessary.
  • Gain an understanding of the various payer models and translate clinical and health economics data to deliver targeted value propositions to payer customers.

Required Qualifications/Eligibility:

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time Doctor of Pharmacy degree student in an ACPE-accredited school or college of pharmacy during the 2024-2025 school year with anticipated graduation in 2026 or 2027.
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must reside within United States borders and able to work remotely and travel to meetings as planned.
  • Must be able to complete a 10-12 consecutive week internship between May and September
  • Must be available to work full time, 40 hours a week.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Proven ability to work with a high level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills in order to maintain a high level of productivity to complete assignments on-time.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for effectively engaging with all members of the company.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.

In the U.S., the salary range for this position is $ 30 to $50 per hour, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
