The Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) Analyst II position will be part of the Health Economic and Market Access (HEMA) Data and Analytics team within Boston Scientific. The selected candidate will assist on projects such as reimbursement analysis, payment policy analysis, valuation studies and development of related internal tools to support the Boston Scientific business units and their products through the HEMA teams.
This role offers a hybrid work schedule with three days per week in the office and can be based out of either our Arden Hills, MN, or Marlborough, MA locations.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assistance with a variety of projects including: government and private payer reimbursement policy research and rate analysis, querying claims data to analyze medical costs and outcomes and support economic modeling for existing and emerging technologies and analytical support for value-based contracting opportunities. Specific projects may include:
- Analyzing large claims data sets and identifying and interpreting patterns and trends in the data to support to BSC business needs
- Preparing financial models and projections including models that display the impact of interventions and technologies on providers and payers
- Maintenance of tools, data objects, and reports to support business unit objectives
- Conducting research on government and private payer policies
- Communicating project status regularly with business units and other internal customers
- Preparing summaries of analysis including project objectives, approach and results
- Adhere to data privacy and regulatory guidelines, ensuring the ethical and secure handling of sensitive healthcare information
- Assist with data management procedures and documentation
- Maintain high standards for data quality, reporting, and timely project execution
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferably with coursework in one of the following areas: health economics, public health, epidemiology, health care administration, statistics, data science, computer science, engineering
- 2+ years of work experience in the healthcare industry; experience with medical claims data and medical coding is beneficial
- SQL and / or SAS programming and data analysis experience
- Strong analytical skills and detail-oriented
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated
- Ability to work well in a team environment but can also work independently after initial guidance
- Time management skills with ability to manage multiple internal client-related priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred qualifications:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint
- Other programming (e.g., R, Python) experience a plus
