Country Director Market Access, Value & Pricing

Reporting directly to the Country Manager Canada, the Head of OVAP (HoOVAP) will have full leadership, management, and accountability for the implementation and execution of the Market Access & Pricing strategies for Daiichi Sankyo’s current and future oncology portfolio in Canada. HoOVAP Canada will ensure the implementation of the country wide oncology access & pricing strategy to support the business plan and conduct all relevant activities within the proper compliance law, ethical standards and company procedures. HoOVAP will work to transform and build the related landscape for DSCA via providing vision, leadership, and entrepreneurial energy to make the most from the exciting opportunities and challenges ahead for Daiichi Sankyo in the targeted therapy areas and ensure Daiichi Sankyo will be recognised as a strong and credible partner in the field of Oncology.

Key Objectives/Responsibilities

  • Develop and articulate the strategic long-term vision of Daiichi Sankyo brands, maintain a long-term focus, identify market changes and new growth opportunities to maximise portfolio and brand potential
  • In collaboration with the DSCA Country Manager, drive the Oncology strategic Access & pricing plan, demonstrating an excellent level of market analysis (customers, competitors, patients), and work closely with the global/European/local teams
  • Define, implement and coordinate with our co-promotion partners, the Access & Pricing  strategy within our Alliance portfolios.
  • Responsible to implement local strategy for new products from company’s pipeline
  • Define, recruit and build the Access & Pricing organization, in relation with the operational objectives and the evolution of the product portfolio.
  • Build and maintain relationships internally (with global, region and local) as well as externally and supporting cross-functional teams
  • Development of value dossiers suitable for Canadian access environment
  • Ensuring national and regional market access and reimbursement for Daiichi-Sankyo’s oncology portfolio. Customize and implement the overall European Market Access & Pricing Strategy to fulfil the country needs resulting in optimal access, at national and regional level (where applicable)
  • Collaborate with global and local regulatory teams to ensure alignment on regulatory strategies and timelines for new product launches.
  • Work closely with global and local Quality Assurance teams to monitor the local implications of Quality Assurance standards and effectively cascade relevant communications to the local team.
  • Develop a tactical customer-centric stakeholder engagement plan for Canada in alignment with the Commercial, Medical Affairs functions and provide internal and external support as required
  • Develop the team, lead allocation and deployment of resources, drive talent development and performance management with a forward-looking view of future required capabilities including talent planning and capability assessments, coaching and mentoring direct reports, succession planning and oversight of recruitment
  • Continuous engagement to improve Daiichi Sankyo capabilities building scientific knowledge and gathering competitive intelligence to enable effective decision-making, customer engagement and brand performance
  • Manage operational access & pricing department budgets
  • Role model Daiichi Sankyo values and behaviours and comply with internal policies

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant and demonstrable experience in the areas of pricing, negotiations, market access, HEOR and RWE (country level) in Canadian Pharma Industry and  managerial experience preferably at director level or leading broad teams including several functions
  • Completed medical, scientific or economic studies or additional training in the field of health economics/politics or similar.
  • Successful track record in access & pricing and product launches in Oncology preferably in Solid Tumours
  • Proven knowledge of key customers and key influencers in Oncology in Canada
  • Strong track record in recruiting, building and managing new teams
  • Successful experience in team management
  • Experience working in a matrix organisation
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to federate and convince people
  • Fluency in English, oral and written communication
