As a member of our Global HEOR team based in the Boston Seaport District, your primary responsibility will be to envision, create and communicate compelling evidence supporting the value of the Cystic Fibrosis portfolio. Using your deep research expertise, you will lead evidence generation supporting the value proposition of Vertex’s assets in Cystic Fibrosis with a focus on prospective and site-based studies.  This is a hybrid role, reporting to the Sr. Director HEOR/CF Lead with the possibility of one or more direct reports. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate to ensure global evidence generation plans are tailored to address global evidence needs across the cystic fibrosis portfolio.
  • Represent the Global HEOR team in internal cross-functional evidence generation activities and work closely with other evidence generating functions in the global organization (Medical, Biostatistics, Safety, Clinical development).
  • Ensure robust scientific methods are applied to study design and execution and in compliance with all local regulations; be accountable for study design, data analysis and the quality of the evidence produced.
  • Identify and vet third party vendors, oversee the RFP process including defining scope, budgets and timelines, act as a key point of contact throughout project execution to ensure quality and timely execution.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal governance processes including those related to protocol review, interactions with KOLs, reporting of safety data and publication
  • Clearly communicate study findings to internal and external stakeholders, lead conference submissions and peer-reviewed publications and ensure evidence is communicated appropriately to key stakeholders
  • Act as subject matter expert in real world evidence generation across the Global organization.

 Key Requirements:

  • Advanced degree (PhD, MD, MPH, MS or PharmD) in a scientific discipline; clinical background should be supplemented with advanced quantitative training demonstrated by an MPH or MS in a relevant field
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, with substantial background in conducting both prospective (e.g., survey, site-based) and retrospective (e.g., chart review, registry) studies; experience with PROs is preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; track record of publication in peer-reviewed journals
  • Subject-matter expert in methods for real-world evidence generation with extensive experience shaping and generating scientific analysis to support value propositions in a consulting and/or pharmaceutical environment; experience within a pharmaceutical company preferred.
  • Excellent project management and people management skills to oversee vendors and internal team and ensure successful project execution
  • Culturally sensitive collaborator able to effectively lead cross-functional teams to drive alignment with business and stakeholder needs while managing to timelines and budgets
  • Strong verbal communications skills, including presentation skills; comfortable communicating complex concepts and adapting presentation style to a variety of audiences including senior executives
  • Understanding of the legal and regulatory environment of the pharmaceutical industry, with spotless history of compliance and ethical workplace conduct
