They postpone, hesitate, often for no good reason. The assumption seems to be that timing doesn&#8217;t matter, that you can apply in a few days, over the weekend, or next week, and your chances stay the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When a health economics role appears on EuropeanHealthEconomics.com, it attracts a small group of suitable candidates. Some apply immediately. Others wait.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here&#8217;s what most candidates underestimate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hiring managers are busy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Interviewing isn&#8217;t their main job. It&#8217;s an extra task on top of managing teams, projects and other priorities. Most <strong>want to fill the role<\/strong> quickly and move on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In practice, the process often works like this: a few strong CVs arrive early, three candidates get shortlisted and interviewed, and one turns out to be a strong match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When a hiring manager finds that candidate, they don&#8217;t wait another week to collect more CVs or run another round of interviews. They&#8217;re also watching for competing offers from other companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The first strong candidate gets an offer and is hired. The role is filled. The opportunity is gone while you&#8217;re still organising your application.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What this means for you<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When you see a role that fits your background and career direction, apply. <strong>Don&#8217;t postpone.<\/strong> Have your CV ready. Apply during your lunch break or the same evening.
