HEOR Internship

Belgium is a highly HTA driven market, including CEMs and BIMs to be submitted to HTA body (Reimbursement Commission). With this, we would like to welcome a colleague in our team with already acquaintance in the HEOR field.

Project objective (s):

  • Collect , including support in automatization of tasks linked to the CEM and BIM models and analyze local or EU RWD data (incl. epidemiology, burden of disease, health care and societal cost) supporting the value and cost effectiveness of our new products/indications in close collaboration with colleagues from the medical department and local KOLs.
  • Complete the input sheets to allow for the run of CEM/BIM models.
  • Point of contact of Vendors who run the models. 
  • Review the report done by Vendors. 
  • Collaborate with the Market Access managers in building the HTA file with the pharmaco-economical part and assumptions on epi, BoD, CEM, BIM inclusion.

In parallel we would consider one of the following projects:

  • Re-run of existing CEM models with changes in variables and update of the report/summary (eg, change in list prices or other variables in the model).
  • Support in the answers to the HTA body for submitted files when it comes to CEM and BIM (eg, re-run based on different hypotheses,…).
  • Participate in the identification of data gaps linked to a specific indication/ product.
  • Get acquainted with the Belgian data ecosystem and the potential data solutions that could address this data gap.
  • Any potential other projects/tasks included in the scope of the HEOR team.

Prior Experience Needed/ Necessary Competencies:

  • Scientific Master’s or PhD degree
  • Experience in working in the Health Outcomes area and performing CE analyses and budget impact models, possibly  in the pharmaceutical industry or with a CRO company or through a Master at the university;
  • Experience with development of Markov models (programming in Excel) and building economic models: Cost-Utility, Cost-Effectiveness and Budget-Impact models;
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake complex analyses and to produce clear recommendations and/ or reports;
  • Knowledge of the Healthcare industry including the pharmaceutical industry (market access, medical, clinical research) is a plus;
  • Expertise in medical science, epidemiology, clinical trials, pharmacoeconomics including a deep understanding of research methods, health economics, and related disciplines is a plus;
  • Experience in public databases and registries is a plus
  • Excellent economic and analytical ability and problem solving skills;
  • Team worker within the market access and external affairs team, and also able to work cross-functionally on a local and international level;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English.

Development objective (Development areas covered by assignment):

The Health Economics and Outcomes Research local position is strategically key for the company i to face the changing health care environment due to the increased pressure by the growing health care expenditures and the choices the Belgian payers must make between existing and new interventions through HTA evaluation (including CEM and BIM). The HEOR team is highly contributing to the success of the reimbursement process.

In this assignment you will help to shape and implement the company’s position in this area to capitalize on the opportunities of real-world data and to address potential challenges.

You will be responsible for collecting epidemiological/real life clinical data, designing and implementing a economic research study, building relevant health economics and budget impact model for an indication to demonstrate the economic value of the company’s priority product. 

Comments/ Other Considerations:

In view of the importance of the project that is proposed in this assignment, at least a 50% FTE would be required as to allow for best support of the team.

Very proficient level of English is requested.
