Senior Director Market Access

Essential Functions:

  • Define access priorities across the portfolio and pipeline, based on deep understanding of MNK priorities and payer, clinician and patient needs. Own and further develop overall market access strategy for the International region.
  • Develop country level market access strategy and plans for each inline brand and late stage launch assets.
  • Lead, manage and develop team of 4 full-time MA leads, and local consultants where appropriate, currently in Europe and Canada, ensuring effective allocation of time and resources to agreed priorities, and continuous enhancement of capabilities and skills.
  • Be accountable for implementation of all elements of the International access strategy, ensuring deliverables in accordance with agreed timelines:

1. Product value propositions and adaptation/maintenance of the value story relevant to the local market/competitive situation and needs

2. Models and tools to support dialogue with local market customers including payers, health technology assessment bodies and physicians

3. Repositories for value demonstration (value dossiers, burden of disease, evidence plans/health economic studies, health economic models etc.)

4. Pricing and innovative pricing/contracting models

5. Public policy positions and initiatives contributing to the expansion of access for our products to patients

  • Ensure all plans are based on comprehensive and in-depth understanding of payer/stakeholder requirements, gathered via primary/secondary market research, payer advisory boards and Early Scientific Advice/Dialogue as appropriate
  • Provide oversight and leadership of engagement, dossier submissions and negotiations (via in-country representatives) with national, regional and local HTA/P&R bodies
  • Ensure full alignment on all activities with International Commercial teams, Global Access, Global Brand Planning, Medical and HEOR, and provide input to shape global strategy and plans  
  • Work closely with Global Market Access, Medical and HEOR teams to ensure data/evidence gaps are identified and addressed in clinical/HEOR/RWE development plans in readiness for key local access milestones
  • Key member of the International Leadership team (ILT) and global market access team, and  ambassador for International internally with key stakeholders in MNK US and global
  • Monitor external environmental conditions that may impact market access for MNK’s brands, including changes in laws and regulations, and inform/educate relevant internal personnel on the implications of any such changes

•           Comply with all relevant SOPs, cross-functional consensus and governance approval processes

Minimum Requirements

Education / Experience / Skills:

•    Master’s degree (e.g. business, finance, science, public health) or Bachelor degree with post-graduate training/degree in e.g. public health or health economics 
•    Minimum 10 years’ experience of working in and leading market access and related functions at national, regional and/or global level:
–    device, pharma, biotech, consulting industry
–    critical care, hospital products, device, drug-device experience preferred, rare disease a plus 
•    Deep understanding and experience from key international markets, especially Europe, Japan, Australia and Canada, including pathways for successful commercialization and market access incl. HTA submissions
•    Proven leadership skills and ability to work with impact across multiple functions/workstreams in support of key/critical business priorities
•    Track record supporting an inline business and providing innovative solutions to market access challenges in an increasingly competitive environment  
•    Player coach mentality, a leader who can both lead and execute with a can-do attitude
•    Ability to think creatively and develop non-traditional solutions to complex business challenges with an entrepreneurial spirit
•    Strong communication skills and experience presenting to internal stakeholders and external customers 
•    Exceptional ability to maintain and build strong customer relations  

Organizational Relationship/Scope:

Reports to: Senior Vice President International Markets

Working Conditions:

Office based role, currently in the UK, Staines-upon-Thames, with occasional European and international travel requirements. The role is eligible to participate in the hybrid workforce model with an office presence Tue to Thu and home office Mon and Fri.

Candidates based remotely in Europe with the ability to regularly travel to the UK office may also be considered for this role.
