Market Access Director – Lysaker, Norway

 

The overall responsibility is to strategically, tactically and operationally lead activities towards key external stakeholders and communicate the clinical and value profile of BMS products at the appropriate time. The ultimate objective is directed towards payer related stakeholders in Norway to ensure that patients can get rapid access to BMS medicines with minimal administrative, logistical, and financial barriers equally across Norway.

Key Responsibilities and Major Duties:

The successful candidate is very experienced within the Market Access area with deep knowledge of the Norwegian health care ecosystem, policy and reimbursement landscape and preferably strong relationships with key Norwegian stakeholders. In addition, the candidate is an experienced leader, has strong networking skills and business

Key Accountabilities:

The senior position as “Market Access Director” is a member of the BMS Norway Leadership Team. Access is critical for success in the increasingly complex payer and political health care environment BMS operated within. The key tasks are to ensure that:

  • BMS is continuously building strong relationships with the payer and political environment in Norway
  • The value messages are integrated into the various access related activities and communications that are needed to maximize the opportunities for full access;
  • Development of outreach and engagement plan for key payers and their influencers on a national and regional level
  • National, regional and local payers & access influencing payer networks for key brands are fully mapped out and managed
  • Negotiations with national, regional and local hospital payers
  • Identify key success factors for each relevant audience and prepare solid messages and reasoning that overcome national and regional access barriers
  • All functions are locally coordinated in the work for full access, i.e. Medical, Value Strategy, Commercial, Regulatory, Government Affairs and Field Access;
  • Closely collaborate regarding prioritizations, timelines and focus for both the pre-launch activities and the launch and post launch work;
  • Reimbursement and funding submissions and/or negotiations are delivered according to plan and responsible for optimizing reimbursed price
  • Pricing and reimbursement activities, including tenders/contracts, are synchronized and communicated with relevant internal stakeholders;
  • Obtain in-depth knowledge of the healthcare policy environment, allowing for early identification of new policy trends
  • Fluid collaboration and communication to BMS HQ
  • Market access issues and opportunities are fully embedded in the local operating committee;

All above missions and activities must be conducted in full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and codes and all BMS policies and ethical standards.

The successful candidate is an experienced Market Access specialist who is able to identify, deal with and influence important stakeholders like:

  • Health Care Administration at central level
  • Reimbursement authorities
  • Buyers and tender organizations
  • Politicians and policy makers
  • Health Economic experts
  • Prioritized accounts (drug units & DFC)
  • Key Opinion Leaders

List of minimum requirements

  • Degree/Certification/Licensure
  • University bachelor degree, e.g. in economics, social science or public health
  • Experience – Responsibility and minimum number of years
  • At least 8-10 years of commercial related experience from Health Care Industry.
  • Experienced in successful leadership of strong talents
  • Direct market access experience from Norway and in-depth knowledge of the pricing and reimbursement environment and the Norwegian policy landscape
  • Relationships with key stakeholders preferred
  • Ability to combine strategic vision with tactical hand-on execution and a high work capacity
  • Ability to identify key product advantages in the context of market requirements and provides key ideas for developing evidence-based compelling value stories

  • Relevant education, e.g. an academic degree (science, economics) or sufficient professional knowledge and experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skill with the ability to build working relations both internally and externally
  • Strong track record within Market Access
  • Ability to combine strategic vision with tactical hand-on execution and a high work capacity
  • Ability to identify key product advantages in the context of market requirements and provides key ideas for developing evidence-based compelling value stories
  • Proven track record of working across matrix teams
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in managing and influencing cross-functional, cross-divisional, cross country and joint venture teams
  • Demonstrated ability to manage business negotiations
  • Experience in working in a dynamic, environment is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Implementation and execution of changes
  • Good communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Independent, self-driven
  • Well organized and structured
  • Software that must be used independently and without assistance (e.g., Microsoft Suite)
  • Good knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Internet and e-mail
