Senior Consultant, Health Economics Modeling

EMEA / UK.

The Senior Consultant, Health Economics Modeling has the responsibility to provide comprehensive services for assigned clients for their area of expertise. This role is responsible for ensuring project timelines and budgets are met and maintaining client relationships in support of future business, globally.

General:

*Proactively and independently expands knowledge base and remains current on developments, trends and best practices for subject matter expertise
*Efficiently manages own workload with respect to project scope, timelines and quality
*Continually cultivates, develops and maintains positive business relationships with other functional teams and departments within ICON
*Proactively communicates objectives and results with clients, leadership team and all functional partners
*Maintains strong understanding of the pharma/biotech/medical device industry landscape as it relates to consulting trends and challenges
*Performs other duties and tasks as are allocated at the reasonable discretion of the Company

Subject Matter Expertise
*Leads design and implementation of cost-effectiveness and budget impact models, including Markov models, partitioned survival analyses, microsimulation models, risk-equation models, discrete event simulations and dynamic transmission models

*Experience with leading conceptual model design

*Experience with developing global economic models as well as local adaptations and HTA submissions
*Develops literature search strategy and reviews appropriate literature searches to inform model inputs
*Develops draft of model protocol/analysis plans and reviews initial draft of key opinion leader guide with limited direction

*Develops slide decks and report summarizing modeling methodology

*Leads model validation activities

*Trains and mentors junior team members in economic modeling

*Expertise in modeling using Microsoft Excel, R and Visual Basic
*May co-author presentations for scientific conferences and manuscripts for scientific journals
*Supports other project activities as needed, completes internal documentation and quality-checks the work of others
*Maintains familiarity with current scientific literature

Client Development
*Drafts sections of proposal documents or quotes with increasing level of autonomy, including costing/budgeting
*Maintains broad understanding of the nature and challenges with specific client relationships and supports the building/broadening of these relationships where appropriate
*Communicates effectively with clients contributing to the development of client relationships
*Contributes to BD meetings, conferences and other BD initiatives with increased autonomy and complexity
*Develops sound recommendations helping clients meet their goals

Project/Risk Management
*Oversees vendor management, including scope of work development, contract initiation, and project milestones, timelines, deliverables, and budgets
*Assumes primary responsibility for day-to-day tasks related to the project, including making decisions related to the project either alone or in conjunction with more senior staff
*Involved with client communication, and may be primary point of contact with client
*Efficiently delegates and communicates with project team, and ensures proper staffing and oversight on projects
*Tracks timelines and keeps project team and PI informed in order to complete work within the expected timeframe
*Maintains understanding of project requirements and identifies scope creep as it happens.  Alerts business operations and project director to the need for a change order at appropriate times.
*Supports business operations on projects as needed
*Identifies project risks and/or risks across multiple deliverables and effectively executes project risk mitigation strategies

Operational 

*Complies with all relevant SOPs, work programming, time-keeping, iLearns, policies and procedures

Requirements

  • MSc or PhD in related field
  • Technical knowledge of dynamic transmission modelling and economic modelling, and the ability to provide support and mentoring to junior team members
  • The ability to design conceptual model frameworks, program dynamic transmission models in C++ and R, link these to economic analyses in Excel and to collect and interpret available data, such as sentinel surveillance data, to inform model designs and calibration
  • The ability to prepare study protocols and reports
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to serve as the main point of contact for clients
  • Ability to manage complex projects
  • Ability to lead a project team
  • Excellent organizational skills including strong oral and written English communication skills, coupled with strong interpersonal skills
  • Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task efficiently
