The VP & Head of ICON VAP & HEOR will act with the highest level of integrity to lead a best-in-classorganization that develops and executes successful market access launch and pricing strategies that are tailored to the ICON region, works proactively with the in-country Market Access Leads to document and communicate the value of the BMS portfolio to Government Authorities and Health Technology Assessment Organizations, and develops innovative access, pricing and contracting solutions that ensure patient access to BMS therapies. As a key member of the Senior Leadershipteams for both WW VAP & HEOR and ICON, the VP & Head of ICON VAP & HEOR has responsibility forthe entire BMS portfolio and pipeline, and for bridging the needs and expertise of both WW VAP & HEOR and ICON.

The ICON VAP & HEOR organization supports the ICON region (currently ~$3.5B business with expected growth to $5B in the near term) across 24 full presence markets, including China, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, S. Korea, Mexico, Poland, Turkey, India; and ~41 LR markets. This leader will identify,develop, prioritize and execute initiatives that will expand access to the BMS portfolio and accelerategrowth of short-and long-term performance for launch assets, LCM opportunities for in line assets and LoE. This includes driving the organization to achieve and hold competitive superiority through a compelling access vision and strategy, sharing of best practices, and building access capabilities andexcellence in execution.

The successful candidate will be familiar with ICON, U.S. and WW access trends and strategies, while possessing a deep understanding of the evolving ICON access environment across multiple disease areas, including Oncology, Hematology, Cardiology and Immunology. The candidate must also be well versed in global payment systems, health economics and evidence generation, value evidence communication, real world data assessment and study design, pricing strategy and execution, andshould have the ability to integrate these disciplines and thereby formulate future ICON accessstrategies and lead a cross-functional team to effectively execute on these strategies.

The successful candidate will be capable of shaping the external market access and policy environment. They will represent BMS interests with important external stakeholders as appropriate, e.g., government and regulatory officials, health authorities, payers, industry associations, media, key opinion leaders, physicians, patients, and advocates.  Adapts and executes the global/regional ICON strategy to ensure expanded and accelerated access for our portfolio.  Develops and executes communication plan to raise awareness for the disease and patient unmet needs with key payers, regulators, advocacy groups, policy pharmaceutical/health care industry.  Works with external partners, where necessary, to drive company performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the ICON access strategy for BMS’ full in-line and pipeline assets (i.e.,Opdivo, Yervoy, Reblozyl, Camzyos, Deucravacitinib, Zeposia, Revlimid, Orencia, Onureg, pipelineassets, etc.)
    • Work with and leverage the cross-functional expertise of their team, Commercial, WW VAP & HEOR and their functional partners, which covers WW Pricing, WW HEOR, WW Value & Access Marketing, GPAGA, in-market ICON Access Leads and GMs, Advocacy, Medical, BIA, and others to ensure relevant insights obtained to formulate market access strategy
    • Utilize insights from an integrated understanding of VAP & HEOR, the business and local external environment and trends to develop customized access strategies for the ICON markets that maximize opportunity and minimize risk exposure
    • Develop objectives and metrics for access success in the ICON markets and measure and assess progress towards agreed upon market access and launch objectives and metrics, and where appropriate adjust such strategies to ensure success
    • Serve on the Access to BMS Medicines in Low and Middle Income (LMIC) Strategic Planning Team and Governance Committee
  • Work with WW Pricing to refine, customize and execute the ICON pricing and contractingstrategies for BMS in-line products and late-stage assets based on commercial objectives andthe market environment.
  • Ensure alignment with WW Pricing and GOA requirements
  • Serve on the WW Exceptions and Global Pricing Strategy Governance Committees
  • Ensure appropriate value recognition for BMS assets in ICON
  • Adapt access & pricing strategy to unique challenges of ICON markets
  • Ensure core value dossier and health economic models, including but not limited to valueframework and budget impact, are aligned with WW V&A and WW HEOR and are customized appropriately to ICON markets.
  • Work with WW Pricing to design and support innovative contractual approaches that maximize access to BMS products in the ICON markets
  • Work with DEX and WW Value, Access and Pricing to ensure registrational Provide earlier ICON input into launch related pricing and access planning
  • Work collaboratively to ensure integration and alignment of VAP & HEOR, GPAGA and Medical strategies for ICON.
  • Ensure continued collaboration between WW VAP, WW HEOR, ICON HQ, and markets, and continue to improve local team capabilities in key areas (e.g., value communication, negotiation, innovative contracting, HTA, RWE)
  • Identify any additional WW and market resources and investment needs to support increased portfolio and ICON expansion
  • Monitor external environment and synthesize input to advise ICON Leadership Team and othercritical cross-functional leaders (e.g., Medical Affairs, GPGA, WW VAP & HEOR, Business Insights& Analytics, Advocacy) on key ICON access policies and practices affecting ICON objectives,quantify risks and opportunities, and make recommendations for action.
  • Lead a direct team of four reports and ~20 indirect reports (including ICON WW Pricing Execution, WW HEOR Markets RoW, and the in-Market Access Leads for each country) across the ICON markets VAP & HEOR organization, involving more than 250 employees in total.
  • Build and lead a high performing team by attracting, developing, and retaining individualsthrough effective coaching and feedback.
    • Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge for training of new and existing teammembers.
    • Develop negotiating skill development programs and other capability development.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Deep understanding of the biopharmaceuticals industry in oncology and specialty therapeutics;commercial and access leadership experience in the U.S., ICON and WW is critical.
  • Deep understanding of the broad array of value, access, pricing, payment and HEOR skills and experience across U.S., ICON and other markets, and the demonstrated ability to utilize this knowledge to formulate and execute robust and successful access strategies in these markets.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate risk and build contingencies to maximize opportunities and to help mitigate negative impacts.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience with a strong track record in U.S. and WW Market Access,Pricing, RWD, Value and Access Marketing, and HEOR.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive value perception and work effectively with Government Authorities and HTAs
  • Demonstrated track record of leading and managing high performing, cross-functional teams orcomplex organizations successfully.
  • Knowledge of the Product Development and Commercialization Process.
  • Significant launch / commercialization experience desired.
  • Demonstration of all Core BMS Behaviors- Passion, Innovation, Accountability and Speed.
  • Undergraduate degree required, MBA and/or post graduate degree required, PharmD preferred.
