Market Access Lead

The Market Access Lead will develop and be responsible for executing the market access strategy in Canada related to value dossier preparation and submissions, and payer approvals. This role is instrumental in overseeing the development and implementation of each product’s value proposition and the integration of contracting and reimbursement approach across jurisdictions and payers. The role will require leadership to prioritize and manage the performance of the complex payer channels, including accountability for reimbursement performance in the 19 different federal/provincial/territorial public plans, provincial cancer agencies and the various private insurance regimes. The role involves cross-functional work in the development of market access plans with sales, marketing, medical and external affairs strategies to ensure submissions and tactics will optimize patient access and business success. This individual will work closely with all groups within the local BeiGene business and the global BeiGene market access & HEOR teams.

Essential Functions of the job:

Strategy, Insights & Planning

  • Develops the strategy and tactical plans related to reimbursement of BeiGene products (per indication) as they relate to all payers to ensure optimal performance and access.
  • Identifies and monitors market and therapeutic access trends and identifies gaps in current market access understanding and develops plans to gain direct payer insights through primary research, advisory boards, etc., and works with related vendors to implement projects in a timely, impactful manner.
  • Works closely with commercial to ensure market access plans are understood and integrated into sales and marketing efforts.
  • Provides overall management of the market access efforts by drafting and recommending budgetary and operating objectives, as well as monitoring performance against these objectives.

Value & Access

  • Responsible for the implementation of pricing and reimbursement activities across the various levels of federal/provincial/territorial government payers, cancer agencies, and the private market.
  • Develops and communicates robust value & access strategies and plans, including clear articulation of the brands’ value story, and works to integrate them into the overall brand plans.
  • Develops innovative pricing and value-based contracting models to optimize the acceleration of reimbursement approvals.
  • Leads efforts, in working closely with HEOR, to guide evidence generation plans and ensure health economic activities are in place to meet the needs of payers while demonstrating value of our brands.
  • Supports the creation of the BeiGene value story, value messaging and development of our Canadian payer value dossier.
  • Engages and manages external service providers on value dossier and general reimbursement submission creation.
  • Provides pricing and reimbursement guidance around product forecast/financial model development.
  • Works with BeiGene’s patient support program to manage reimbursement navigation and patient access to therapy.
  • Works closely with representatives from federal/provincial/territorial governments, national and provincial agencies, and public and private insurance formularies regarding reimbursement and patient access.
  • Develops new customer / influence network, as required, to support market initiatives with provincial government programs or private insurers.

Required Education:

  • University undergraduate degree in science; higher qualifications (MD, PhD, MBA) advantageous. Technical training in Pharmacoeconomics, HTA, HEOR preferred.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS Degree with 8 plus years of overall experience, 7 plus years in the pharmaceutical industry and 5 years in a market access function.
  • Experience in pricing and reimbursement at the federal and provincial level as well as with private insurance.
  • Proven success in reimbursement negotiations.
  • Demonstrated success and experience supporting oncology product launches in the market.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to operate in a complex, dynamic marketplace.
  • Strong results orientation i.e., has a proactive, business-oriented focus with the resolve to set challenging goals and demonstrate the commitment and persistence to achieve them.
  • Agile, strategic thinking and ability to develop innovative reimbursement/pricing strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a complex set of internal and external stakeholders (including cross-functional teams involving medical, scientific and commercial).
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including ability to synthesize data and deliver a clear overview of market access strategy, opportunity and risks.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Willing to travel for business/meet customers across country.
  • Passionate about the patient journey with a patient-centric approach.
  • English/French bilingual ability considered an asset.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for hiring, supervising and managing resources as required (vendors, contract or FTE team as approved).

Computer Skills:

  • Standard Computer Skills required.

Other Qualifications:

  • French language an asset

Travel:

  • Approximately 30% of time
