Head of Market Access

Reporting to the Regional Head Latin America – CSL Vifor, as the Head of Market Access Brazil & LATAM, you will serve as the interface between the company and payer stakeholders to establish a favorable business environment in driving the company’s Access footprint and maximize patient access in Brazil and with Business Partners (BP) across LATAM. You will be responsible to drive access strategies and initiatives in Brazil and across LATAM and support Brazil GM and LATAM Commercial Heads and for developing and articulating Payer positions and programs. You will align innovative and value-add CSL Vifor solutions across key therapy areas with the needs of fast changing health systems and with a sound business approach, and support the Commercial objectives of LATAM through the development and execution of CSL Vifor’s Access strategies and projects. You will develop a strong network with local health authorities and professional associations and other influencers in Brazil and across LATAM. You will support Medical Affairs with initiatives involving patient and clinical organizations and partner with the relevant stakeholders in managing relations and plan and execute patient access programs across relevant therapy areas including nephrology and rare diseases. You will influence regional and national Access strategies to achieve positive business outcomes. You will develop/implement reimbursement plans in both private and public sectors in Brazil and across LATAM and oversee development of health economic data and subsequent publication and utilization. This role will be split 70% Brazil and 30% LATAM, providing support to Commercial Heads LATAM (North and South) as well as local Market Access teams.

  • Demonstrated internal stakeholder support towards achieving optimum market access and price.
  • On-time delivery of accelerated market access and optimal reimbursement outcomes.

Strategy and Policy Positions

  • Develop sound access strategy and payer positions.
  • Effectively monitor and map payer policy developments and stakeholder positions and identify opportunities and threats for CSL Vifor today and in the future, at the local level.
  • Manage the development and execution of campaigns and engagement programs to support CSL Vifor’s interest on strategically important Access issues.
  • Aim to improve market conditions for supporting CSL Vifor’s short-and-long term objectives via government relations strategies (e.g. pricing) in the target market.
  • Represent CSL Vifor’s strategic initiatives to existing and potential stakeholders.
  • Provide relevant trainings to internal stakeholders on Access positions.
  • Integrate HEOR into business plans as a tool for commercial (Sales, Marketing and Patient Access) teams and collaborate with them to develop health economics and cost effectiveness arguments.
  • Collaborate with other teams as appropriate to develop specific health economic models and tools to support cost-effectiveness and budget impact analyses.
  • Oversee preparation of health economic submissions and strategic health economic assessments to support submissions for new product entry and adoption and for growth and penetration of established products.
  • Provide health economics expertise to shape the understanding within the business on relevant environmental Market Access challenges.
  • Identify opportunities for health outcomes / real world evidence development for key products, align with the global HEOR team for the development of the data and oversee data generation / localization (as appropriate) including messaging per stakeholder group.
  • Liaise with local businesses and Medical Affairs to support Patient and Innovation Policy programs.
  • Conduct all activities in compliance with industry and Company ethical guidelines and policies.

Communication and Relationship Management

  • Manage relationships and day-to-day interactions with patients and clinician organizations
  • Monitor, assimilate, assess and internally communicate changes in the national health policy environment related to Market Access.
  • Support the collection of voice of the customer (health economic, clinical differentiation, etc.), needs, and opportunities and shares data with Health Economics and Outcomes Research team (HEOR), Patient and Innovation Policy, Communications and Medical Affairs.
  • Effectively communicate health economic plans and economic study results undertaken by CSL Vifor and by other organizations to internal and external audiences.
  • Develop local political and health authorities networks linked to CSL Vifor’s commercial strategy and objectives and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders.
  • An active and integral member of the business team and collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams to align on business strategy.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to provide response to government queries.

Market Intelligence

  • Monitor the local healthcare environment to have an overall perspective, identifying areas where Market Access Policy, including Patient policy can contribute.

Advice and Expertise

  • Conduct statistical analyses, sampling, and other methods to measure and evaluate clinical and epidemiological variables.
  • Work with regional Market Access team to take the pulse of external environment and advise on value added opportunities with suggested action plans.
  • Leverage CSL Vifor’s value proposition and promote positive business outcomes at local level.

Trade Association Management

  • Participate and represent the company in associations and working groups and provide updates on key events.
  • Build and maintain an expert network in pricing and reimbursement.

Your Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in a business, or life science related discipline, additional education on Political Science, Health Economics, Public Policy/Administration preferred.
  • Master’s Degree in MPA, MBA, MPH preferred.
  • Language requirement: High level English skills.
  • 8+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/medical device industry in the areas of Market Access, with experience in working for LATAM countries (at least 3 years).
  • Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical and healthcare dynamics.
  • Deep understanding of government policies and programs in Brazil and knowledge of LATAM countries systems.
  • Good commercial background, health economics knowledge and experience to align market access strategies with government policies and programs.
  • Experience in public affairs.
  • Experience in strategy execution at the country level. Experience in executing in LATAM countries is a plus.
  • Experience in business planning and/or market analysis and production of Value Propositions based on Patient Access principles and knowledge and experience with HEOR modelling and analysis preferred.
  • Experience in performing or guiding economic studies, including literature reviews preferred.
