Here are the typical responsibilities and the education and work experience employers ask for at each level. This analysis is based on <strong>44 <a href=\"https:\/\/europeanhealtheconomics.com\/fr\/emploi\/value-and-access\/\" data-type=\"post_tag\" data-id=\"27528\">Value &amp; Access<\/a> r\u00f4les<\/strong> posted in the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/europeanhealtheconomics.com\/fr\/abonnement-pro\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"100149518\">Pro membership<\/a><\/strong> of EuropeanHealthEconomics.com.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Value &amp; Access sits between the evidence and the commercial outcome. The job is to make sure a medicine or diagnostic gets <strong>reimbursed at a price that reflects its value<\/strong>, so patients can actually get it. The titles vary: value, access &amp; pricing; value, evidence &amp; access; value &amp; access insights. But the work follows a recognisable pattern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The label is broad, though. In this sample, &#8220;Value &amp; Access&#8221; covered global strategy directors, country access leads, dossier writers, payer analytics specialists and even data engineers. Before you apply, <strong>read the responsibilities, not the title<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are the responsibilities?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most of the work falls into three themes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Strategy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Almost every listing asks you to develop <strong>access, pricing and reimbursement strategy<\/strong> across the product lifecycle and to build the <strong>value proposition<\/strong> that turns clinical and economic evidence into arguments payers accept. In global roles this starts early: identifying <strong>evidence gaps<\/strong>, shaping trial endpoints and comparators, and feeding pricing assumptions into forecasts and business development decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Submissions and evidence<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You&#8217;ll prepare or oversee <strong>HTA dossiers and value dossiers<\/strong>, adapt global material to local requirements, and increasingly prepare for <strong>JCA<\/strong>. Much of this runs through agencies, so <strong>managing vendors, budgets and timelines<\/strong> comes up repeatedly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Influence<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nearly every listing stresses <strong>cross-functional work<\/strong> with Medical, Commercial, HEOR, Clinical and Regulatory teams, usually without direct authority. Country roles add <strong>payer engagement and negotiation<\/strong>. Global roles add training and equipping affiliates with toolkits and objection handlers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Outsourcing modelling<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One finding matters if you come from HEOR: <strong>you&#8217;re more likely to commission models than build them<\/strong>. Only a handful of listings, mostly in value analytics, writing and consultancy, expect hands-on cost-effectiveness or budget impact modelling. Most roles ask you to partner with HEOR. If you&#8217;re moving across, your edge is <strong>translating evidence into payer arguments<\/strong> and judging whether a model will survive HTA scrutiny.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What are the requirements?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><thead><tr><th>Level<\/th><th>Typical education<\/th><th>Typical experience<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>Entry (interns, associates, analysts)<\/td><td>Master&#8217;s in most European listings<\/td><td>0 to 2 years<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Mid (senior specialists, senior associates, country leads)<\/td><td>Master&#8217;s<\/td><td>3 to 7 years<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Senior: managers and directors<\/td><td>Managers: Master&#8217;s or graduate degree, PhD often preferred. Directors: Bachelor&#8217;s minimum, advanced degree preferred<\/td><td>Managers: 4 to 6 years. Directors: 8 to 12+ years<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Entry level:<\/strong> a <strong>Master&#8217;s is the norm<\/strong>, even for internships. Country roles also require <strong>the local language plus English<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Mid level:<\/strong> a <strong>Master&#8217;s is the standard expectation<\/strong>, typically with 3 to 7 years of experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Senior level:<\/strong> <strong>manager roles have the highest academic bar<\/strong> in the dataset, and <strong>a PhD can cut the experience requirement by 2 to 4 years<\/strong>. At director level, degrees matter less. Listings screen for <strong>years in market access<\/strong> et <strong>therapeutic area depth<\/strong>, with oncology most in demand (based on fewer listings, so treat this as indicative). If you&#8217;re aiming for director roles, <strong>build that depth while you&#8217;re still at manager level<\/strong>.
