I see a lot of CVs and get many emails and messages. Many of them are <strong>AI-generated fluff<\/strong>, perfect, but kind of odd at the same time,<strong> <\/strong>and filled with buzzwords. The problem for me, and I believe for many hiring managers, is that these <strong>AI-Generated CVs, letter and messages don\u2019t give you a real sense of the person or what they can actually do.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here\u2019s a blog post that points out clear telltale signs a CV or cover letter is likely written by AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-d1f44ec1 gb-headline-text\">1. It\u2019s Too Generic<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AI often creates text that sounds nice, but <strong>says very little<\/strong>. You see lines like \u201cworked on reimbursement submissions\u201d or \u201cled successful projects\u201d with no mention of the details, like therapeutic area, methods used, country, etc. A real candidate with relevant experience will explain where and how this fits the role in your company. Also, if the cover letter doesn\u2019t mention your name, company or the role, it\u2019s likely AI, or even worse, lazy copy-paste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-2d54da42 gb-headline-text\">2. Feels Odd<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AI tools often use <strong>overly formal <\/strong>or old-fashioned words like \u201cspearheaded\u201d or \u201cutilised.\u201d Some applications also jump between styles, for example, starting with \u201cI\u2019m very excited about this role!\u201d and then switching to \u201cI possess a strong track record of execution.\u201d It <strong>doesn\u2019t feel natural<\/strong>. A real person usually writes in a steady personal tone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-b4866d6d gb-headline-text\">3. Repetition<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AI uses templates. That means every bullet might start with \u201cManaged\u201d or \u201cDeveloped,\u201d and the <strong>format stays the same<\/strong>. In health economics, where most projects are somewhat different, you would expect to see more variation. Some candidates also <strong>copy too many technical keywords<\/strong> from the job ad (to get through automatic filtering of CVs), without explaining how they\u2019ve used those skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-aad4777a gb-headline-text\">4. Buzzwords, No Details<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some applications are full of hot <strong>buzzwords <\/strong>like <em>&#8220;value-based pricing&#8221;, \u201creal-world evidence\u201d, \u201cgenerative AI modelling\u201d<\/em>, but don\u2019t explain what the candidate actually did. That\u2019s a common sign of AI-generated content.  In health economics, candidates can also try to hide lack of experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-7f7b4f84 gb-headline-text\">5 Perfect, But Nothing About Them<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AI doesn\u2019t make spelling mistakes. But it also <strong>doesn\u2019t show personality<\/strong>. If you read a cover letter and come away without knowing what drives the candidate, <strong>why they want this job<\/strong> or what kinds of projects they enjoy, it\u2019s probably not written by them. Real people share small stories or mention lessons learned. AI cannot do that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"gb-headline gb-headline-bde2f8d6 gb-headline-text\">How Should You Respond<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don\u2019t throw away every CV that looks too clean. Many candidates use tools like ChatGPT to polish their writing, and that\u2019s okay. These five signs will help you spot hollow applications. It\u2019s still your responsibility to interview, check and test if they truly understand the work and can deliver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There you have it.
