Head of Market Access

Bangkok, Thailand.

Responsible for ongoing development, refinement and implementation, including project planning and management, metrics, tracking and reporting of AZTH’s overall Access strategy. Oversight of key access topics in industry in local MC, such as – Pricing & Reimbursement; Hospital Formulary Listing, Public Policy; Government Affairs; Patient Affordability, and Health Technology Assessments/Health Economics/Pharmaco Economics. 

Works with senior commercial leaders to optimize access within key accounts.

Typical Accountabilities:

Pricing & Reimbursement

  • Develops pricing and reimbursement strategy (including pricing bands, launch order, etc.) for existing and launch products, and maintaining over time
  • Determines contracting/net price strategy including risk sharing arrangements, discounting, etc
  • Develops and executes reimbursement support and patient assistance services to ensure patient access to products
  • Leads the exploration for, and evaluation of, a pipeline of potential pricing and contracting strategies and their integration into AZ business
  • Reviews contracting opportunities for risk and compliance, from a financial and legal perspective.
  • Encourages exploration of leading edge & novel marketing approaches that provide enhanced competitiveness to current and future AZ brands
  • Improves efficiency, effectiveness, profitability, and administration of contracting.
  • Serves as a core member of the leadership team, representing emerging new practice issues and opportunities as well as contributing to overall Marketing Strategy purpose

Account Management 

  • Develops strategy for government payers, health plans, physician groups, medical centers, etc
  • Field-based teams that establishes and maintains relationships with key payers
  • Develops business and manages key accounts and channels including medical schools, private hospitals, drugstores, etc

Patient access and affordability

  • Creates “Patient Affordability Program” / tiered pricing models, comes up with business cases and gains approval from area
  • Creates “Early Access Program” / name patient programs

Public / Government Affairs & Advocacy

  • Communicates outcomes and pricing decisions with the payers and governments
  • Forms or aligns with patient groups for effective reimbursement strategies

Health Economics & Outcomes Research (HEOR)

  • Generates evidence, including value story and value dossier development
  • Performs / Analyses health technology assessment

Analytics & Real World Evidence Support

  • Works closely and support Medical Department in analysing clinical data prospectively and retrospectively post launch to generate “real world evidence” and value for money

Qualification:

  • Bachelors degree in relevant field (Marketing, Science, Economics or Finance) and 7 – 10 years of experience
  • Strategic project leadership experience
  • Direct experience working with access-related strategies and topics is strongly preferred, e.g., pricing, reimbursement, patient advocacy, public policy, etc. 
  • Demonstrable track record of creating innovative/breakthrough business/market strategies and plans in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or other related industry
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding objectives and goals
  • Outstanding consulting skills: consistent and proven track record of helping clients address strategic opportunities and solve problems
  • Strategic agility: has in-depth knowledge and broad experience in the pharmaceutical and is able to bring this to bear in accomplishing strategic goals and objectives
  • Strong leadership skills: can build vision and strategy and lead others in the accomplishment of this
  • Strong communication, presentation & facilitation skills
  • Proven abilities to work effectively in a complex, matrix environment, across numerous time zones
  • Outstanding organizational & project management skills
  • Strong influencing & negotiation skills: proven abilities to influence without authority
  • Strong customer orientation/focus
  • Strong interpersonal & partnering skills: has proven abilities to work effectively and efficiently in cross-functional, often virtual and matrix teams
  • Fluent in written and verbal English
  • Solid relationship with external key stakeholders
  • MBA
  • Multi-industry marketing practice
  • Thorough understanding of pharma business model with specific knowledge of brand team operation, brand planning and sales model
