APAC HEMA Head

J&J MedTech is looking for a seasoned Health Economics Market Access leader to join us as our APAC HEMA Head . Health Economics & Market Access (HEMA) is a critical element of our market access strategies to ensure success in an increasingly challenging market environment. Especially in APAC, where there are multiple markets with national-level reimbursement system and Health Technology Assessment (HTA), it is essential for HEMA to articulate the clinical and economic value of our innovation to the payers and decision makers to secure such reimbursement and funding.

As a senior leader in region, APAC HEMA Head leads the team in building strong regional and global partnership to shape upstream NPI and Evidence Generation strategy with Business Unit (BU) HEMA team as well as with other cross-functional partners to meet APAC payers’ evidence needs. APAC HEMA Head also support the regional and cluster HEMA team for them to be able to achieve their business aligned market access objectives. In addition, APAC HEMA Head collaborates with other regional cross-functional leaders to drive organizational priorities.

APAC HEMA Head is also responsible for building HEMA capabilities across the region and creating the environment where HEMA is prioritized as a critical capability at an organizational level.

Position Duties & Responsibilities:

Lead HEMA strategy development and execution for APAC region across BU. Represent APAC HEMA needs and voices to various internal stakeholders to shape NPI strategy and Evidence Generation strategy. This includes, but not limited to;

  • Provide guidance and support APAC markets’ reimbursement and access strategy development, submission and maintenance.
  • Shape upstream new product development strategies and global evidence generation strategies to meet APAC reimbursement and access needs.
  • Lead regional evidence generation and dissemination aligned with business needs to support access and adoption of our technologies.
  • Ideate and shape value-based health care strategies as relevant, e.g., value-based health care, innovative access models.

Proactively attract and develop the best talents for the region and provide inspirational leadership across the team.

  • Demonstrate a mature, solutions focused and confident leadership style, with an ability to present adeptly to senior leaders and to establish and articulate a clear vision to the Team.
  • Ensures Credo Values are demonstrated in the day to day interactions of the Team.
  • Coach, manage and mentor people in the Team, providing specific attention and support for identified talent and general talent management.
  • Develop Succession Planning for key positions in APAC HEMA.

Shape external access policy for the region on key topics by connecting with external bodies.  

  • Lead work in developing policy positions of key importance to market access in the region in collaboration with Government Affairs & Policy.

Proactively contribute regionally prioritized MedTech priorities.

  • Work with cross functional peers to establish and shape APAC-wide goals.

  • Market access assessment and strategy: Understand the healthcare environment, the external marketplace and market access requirements and develop market access strategies for market access and adoption, including HTA.
  • Funding and reimbursement: Understand funding and reimbursement requirements in APAC markets. Plan strategies to optimize funding & reimbursement.
  • Commercial acumen: Understand commercial financial information related to the business, key performance indicators and financial forecasting metrics and trends impacted by market access, funding and reimbursement.
  • Strategic Thinking: Apply HEMA perspectives and knowledge to current and future portfolio and solution planning to deliver mid and long-term business success. Identify strengths and opportunities, along with weaknesses and threats and how to mitigate them.
  • Prioritization: Align and prioritize the strategies with key stakeholders. Be able to diffentiate strategies from tactics.
  • Learning agility: Quickly learn and understand new innovation and constantly changing environment.
  • Lead through ambiguity: Lead with ambiguous environment and develop scenario-based planning.
  • Influence without authority: Map and influence key internal and external stakeholders without formal reporting line.
  • Persuasive communication: Communicate complex information clearly and confidently, using a storytelling approach, to influence the achievement of the best outcomes for all stakeholders, both in written and verbal communication.

Education & Experience Requirements:

Experience Required:  

  • The successful candidate has a MedTech experience and has demonstrated a Regional mind-set with the ability to assimilate complex science and data quickly.
  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive health economics and market access experience is required with a proven track record of exceptional team & cross-functional leadership.
  • A deep and consolidated technical knowledge of all aspects of health economics and market access and of payer processes across the APAC clusters is required.
  • Experience of leading health ecnomics and market access in the cluster level, esp in HTA setting, is required. Broad experience encompassing leadership health economics and market access roles at both cluster and regional level is expected.
  • A track record of effectively managing people in complex organizations and of achieving results through other leaders is required.
  • Proven ability to understand business strategy; translate it into solutions that support the company’s business goals is expected.

Education Required:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • An advanced degree in HEMA is highly desirable.
