Senior Manager, Market Access Strategy and Health Economics

Reporting to the Director, Innovation Value & Access Strategy (Oncology), you will be accountable for the market access strategies for the inline and future oncology portfolio and will design HTA submissions, payer evidence plans, and patient engagement approaches. You will lead a team who will provide strategic access and health economic expertise.  In this position, you will use your strategic, analytical, and leadership skills to make a difference in the lives of Canadian patients.

This role also works across diverse cross-functional teams building strategies aligned to organizational objectives and goals. This main responsibility for this role is to ensure that HTA submissions are designed to recognize the needs of everyone in the Canadian system, from patients and clinicians, to reviewers and payers. This includes developing key health economic dossiers, exploring public health databases for relevant evidence, and working alongside patient group advocates and Canadian clinicians to best understand how our medicines will fit into clinical practice. The Senior Manager, Market Access Strategy and Health Economics (SMASHE) role provides thought leadership so patients can access our medicines.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver market access strategies for both the public healthcare system and private payer submissions, ensuring accurate, strategic, and timely submissions for assigned portfolio.
  • Attracts and mentors the best talent and team creating an inspiring purpose. Recruits, leads, coaches, develops and motivates people to ensure the accountabilities are clear and objectives are delivered to a consistent high level of quality, performance and creativity.
  • With your expertise, you provide advice in navigating Canadian reimbursement processes and trends, including evidence interpretation, gap identification, payer engagement, and innovative negotiation strategies. You provide health economic and evidentiary guidance to your cross-functional and leadership team members.
  • Conceptualize and design models and use appropriate data sources, including clinical trials, HRQoL studies, SLRs and ITCs, retrospective database analyses, and epidemiological studies to build sophisticated economic approaches.
  • Your submissions are built with high quality decision-grade evidence, including Canadian real-world evidence (RWE) to provide new insights and demonstrate the value of our medicines to HTA reviewers, payers, and clinical decision-makers.
  • Chair cross-functional meetings to implement strategies and act as coach/mentor to colleagues and the team.
  • As a leader, you cultivate relationships with a network of internal (global, regional colleagues) and external influencers (economists, clinicians, academics) and are skilled at communicating and presenting at conferences and payer/HTA meetings.

Qualifications/Competencies;

  • A genuine interest in HTA, health economics, and patient access within oncology.
  • Advanced education in health sciences, HTA/health economics, health policy, regulatory, epidemiology, statistics, or business with 7+ years pharmaceutical industry and/or 5+ years HTA experience is preferred
  • Solid understanding in market access, regulatory, new product planning, evidence generation, or commercial with in-depth knowledge of the Canadian drug reimbursement landscape (HTA processes, public/private payers, health policies).
  • Demonstrated success with large agencies/institutions such as CADTH, INESSS, Health Canada, or government contacts
  • Experience with health economic models (partitioned-survival analysis, Markov models, discrete event simulations, BIAs), as well other payer evidence (SLRs, ITCs, NMAs)
  • Experience working with external payers, HTA experts, clinicians, and patient advocates
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and proven multi-stakeholder project delivery in a complex environment

  • As the future oncology business rapidly changes, this role requires learning flexibility and working with ambiguity is necessary
  • Strong communication skills: interpersonal, writing, and presentation
