Manager, Market Access Strategy

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Market Access Strategy & Health Economics (Oncology), you will be accountable for the design and delivery of major projects throughout the market access lifecycle, developing required materials for HTA submissions, and working closely with brand teams to ensure patients can access our medicines throughout the inline and future oncology portfolio.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of high-quality submissions to HTA agencies within the public healthcare system and private insurers, ensuring accurate, strategic, and timely filings for assigned portfolio.
  • Provide access assessment, critical appraisal, evidence gap identification, and external engagement to build reimbursement strategies throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Chair cross-functional team meetings to implement strategy and act as a liaison with global access strategy teams. You also engage externally with clinicians, HTA experts, and patient advocates to ensure that access initiatives support the needs of patients, providers, payers, and the Canadian healthcare system.
  • Perform horizon scanning to proactively provide new insights on economic evaluations and payer discussions to support forward-thinking access strategy and internal planning.
  • Build relationships with a network of internal (global, regional colleagues) and external influencers (economists, clinicians, academics).
  • As the access lead, manage team operations, budgets, projects, and external presentations at conferences and payer/HTA meetings

Qualifications/Competencies

  • A genuine interest in HTA, health policies, and health economic methods within oncology.
  • Advanced education in health sciences, HTA/health economics, health policy, regulatory, epidemiology, statistics, or business.
  • 3+ years of pharmaceutical industry or health-related/HTA experience involving reimbursement or health policy, or similar agency/government experience
  • Experience in market access, regulatory, new product planning, evidence generation, or commercial with understanding of the Canadian drug reimbursement landscape (HTA processes, public/private payers, health policies).
  • Experience with large agencies/institutions such as CADTH, INESSS, Health Canada, or government contacts an asset.
  • An understanding and willingness to learn health economic methods (partitioned-survival analysis, Markov models, discrete event simulations, BIAs), as well other payer evidence (SLRs, ITCs, NMAs)
  • Experience working with external payers, HTA experts, clinicians, and patient advocates and able to deliver cross-functional/multi-stakeholder projects in a sophisticated environment.

  • A high level of initiative, timely, and ability to lead multiple priorities of significant scope in a fast-paced environment.
  • Critical thinking to objectively appraise clinical evidence, budget impact analyses, and pharmacoeconomic submission materials with detailed, analytical skills in reviewing clinical submission materials and financial workup.
  • Strategically agile with the ability to synthesize information from diverse sources to inform and formulate strategies and initiatives
  • As the future oncology business rapidly changes, this role requires learning flexibility and working with ambiguity.
  • Adaptive style with ability to influence and build relationships across the AstraZeneca and with our external partners.
