We are recruiting a Director, Field Health Economics & Reimbursement (HE&R) to lead our Cardiac Rhythm Management Field Reimbursement Team. This position will lead a team that educates healthcare decision-makers and clinicians on device-specific reimbursement to establish and maintain economic awareness. This role also works with regional HE&R peers to strengthen reimbursement fundamentals and patient access strategies. Key internal customers may include therapy access teams, payer relations, operations, marketing, clinical, and sales teams. Key external customers may include provider customers (hospital economic stakeholders and physicians), government agencies (CMS/ Medicare), private payers, physician societies, and industry trade associations.
What You’ll Do
- Interpret and integrate business strategies into actionable, value-added health economics and reimbursement initiatives.
- Lead the HE&R field team responsible for executing the reimbursement strategy in collaboration with internal and external partners.
- Co-create economic and value messaging materials to assist with internal and external customer education.
- Participate in cross-departmental meetings and conference calls to provide input and guidance regarding market dynamics and issues needing focus, attention, and action.
- Successful leadership and strong ability to make effective decisions independently while working in a matrix and off-site environment.
- Excellent communication skills required (written and verbal). Must be able to communicate effectively to diverse audiences.
- Manage team travel and entertainment within the confines of the allowable budget.
- Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.
- Maintain positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education And Experience You’ll Bring
Required
- Bachelors and 15+ years of experience or advanced degree (masters or PHD or MD) with equivalent experience.
- Expertise in health economics research, market access, and coverage, coding and reimbursement mechanisms in the US and globally.
- Successful record of leading groups of people, including cross-functional teams.
- Experience in medical device or pharmaceutical space.
- Conceive and direct analysis of health care clinical, health economic and outcomes data for to support clinical, administrative and/or market development, health policy and publication strategy initiatives. Knowledgeable about product development process (R&D) as well as commercialization.
- Understanding the principals and practical application of value-based pricing and product access. Experience with building global/ regional dossiers.
- Must be able to influence and negotiate at many levels within the organization and a variety of different groups including regulatory, marketing, sales, legal, clinical and medical affairs and project management, strong team player.
- Ability to interpret and integrate business strategies into actionable, value-added health economics and reimbursement initiatives.
- Demonstrated knowledge of US and global healthcare payer systems, including expertise in health care financing, reimbursement policies related to the device industry, and technology assessment.
- Experience working with government reimbursement agencies, hospital administrators/economic stakeholders at all levels, and health plan, managed care and/or physician group payers.
- Understanding of profit and loss statements. Manage department budget, budget planning, divisional plan and LRP process.
- Successful leadership and strong ability to make effective decisions independently while working in a matrix and off-site environment.
- Decisive and quick thinker who is able to deal with abstract concepts and handle ambiguity well. Innovative and able to create opportunities that impact the business.
- Excellent communication skills required (written and verbal). Must be able to communicate effectively to diverse audiences.
Preferred
- Medical device experience in cardiovascular area.
- Formal training in health economics, public health, health services research, policy analysis, epidemiology, biostatistics, health care administration or related discipline.
- Experience in gaining payer coverage decisions and developing payer coverage policies.
- Passion for elevating adjacent capabilities by positioning access principles as strategic enablers

The base pay for this position is $136,000.00 – $272,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
