Global Health Outcomes Director

The role is global and early pipeline. The role will be accountable for supporting and working with the commercial & medical cross-functional pipeline core team and R&D on the global strategy and delivery of value evidence for HIV assets/medicines. This role will work closely with the senior directors responsible for leading the overall strategic direction for the pipeline value evidence generation in HIV treatment and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).

Manage and support the implementation of key evidence generation activities of pipeline assets, including real world evidence (RWE), health economics modelling, COAs, burden/cost of illness studies and Early HTA advice.

Ensure integration of strategy and health outcomes studies/data to support internal decision-making during product development of our pipeline assets and alignment with the TPPs.

Responsibilities:

To LEAD:

  • GHO input into the Integrated Evidence Plan (IEP) through key interactions with the Integrated Evidence Team (IET) and the Early Development Teams for the different assets.
  • GHO projects supporting the IEP, bringing required technical knowledge, and ensuring high quality of deliverables.
  • Specific projects, and collaborations (including GSK) involved in value evidence generation, including functions such as commercial, R&D, epidemiology, statistics, clinical, medical affairs and medical sciences. Specific projects could include Clinical Outcome Assessments, Patient Preference, Early Health Economics Modelling, Early HTA Advice, Real World Evidence and strategic engagement with R&D colleagues
  • External collaborations and scientific evidence requirements with reimbursement bodies,  decision makers (e.g. formal scientific advice) and Key Opinion Leaders.

To PARTNER:

  • Working closely with many stakeholders including Global and Regional Medical and Commercial Leads and team members, Market Access, Government Affairs, Medicine & Early Development teams, Epidemiology/RWE, Implementation Sciences, Clinical Scientists etc. Areas for partnership will include:
    • Clinical trial design in alignment with stakeholder insights and the IEP.
    • Cross functional engagement to ensure evidence generation activities are mapped out and operationalised within the appropriate timeframes required
    • Working with commercial, market access, patient-aligned roles and other colleagues to gain insights into evidence generation requirements.

To DELIVER:

  • The health outcomes specific activities as defined in the IEP (economic modelling, RWE projects, evidence synthesis, COA strategy and activities, etc) ensuring the scientific robustness of the study protocol, study execution, analyses, and reporting. This will require collaboration with CROs and GSK clinical operations and decentralised clinical trial (DCT) team.
  • Ensure payer insights are captured globally and ensure they are effectively prioritised in evidence generation.
  • GHO input to regulatory documents with accuracy and scientific integrity.
  • Impactful publications and downstream activities, including supporting the medical, commercial and government affairs teams with communication materials and training to ensure optimal dissemination of the evidence.
  • Compliance with necessary regulations for quality and disclosure.
  • Accountable for tracking and managing budgets within the scope of the role.

Why You?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Masters degree or higher in health outcomes, health economics, epidemiology, pharmacy, health or life sciences.
  • Significant experience in health outcomes or an aligned discipline/function, with examples of how the work produced was applied and produced impact for the company business / portfolio / asset.
  • Pharmaceutical experience that includes drug development and/or and launch experience supported with value evidence generation. Solid understanding of the landscape and dynamics across the key geo regions that we work with – and a drive to proactive seek new information, monitor changes, with the opportunistic approach.
  • Strong technical knowledge in key areas including economic modelling and observational studies, and RWE and COA, and a continuous proactive search of evolving methodologies in application to strategic objectives of the team.

Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Doctorate level (e.g. PhD, Pharm D) or higher-level degree with commensurate industry and business qualification.
  • Experience in HIV/Infectious Diseases.
  • Global R&D and/or LOC experience.
  • Networking, communication and influencing skills to work effectively in a complex matrix environment.
  • Leadership, networking, communication and influencing skills to work effectively in a sophisticated and multi-cultural matrix environment. This role requires credibility and personal authority, to work with senior partners to develop and implement evidence generation strategies that will meet decision makers’ needs.
  • Self-motivated ownership and accountability for projects, to move them forward, and deliver with minimal supervision.
  • Confident verbal and written communication skills. Ability of proactive engagement, negotiation and networking skills. Ability to distil complex data into appropriate communication packages for wide variety of internal/external audiences.
  • Strong critical thinking and ability to see and critically assess opportunities.
  • Role requires credibility and personal authority, to bring a depth and breadth of experience to address external environmental challenges and develop evidence generation strategies that will meet decision makers’ needs.
