Consultant – Literature Review Specialist (HEOR)

Athens, Greece / Oeiras, Portugal.

Literature review consultants in theIQVIA EMEA RWS teamwork flexibly across qualitative health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) projectswith an interest in developing as a specialist consultant in literature reviews. They support the team in health technology assessment (HTA) and HEOR project delivery, with the opportunity to support business development.The role is based in Portugal or Greece with hybrid office and home working. The successful candidate:

  • Develops materials and services related to all stages of systematic literature reviews – research questions, protocols, screening of abstracts and full texts, data extraction for epidemiology, clinical, economic, and quality of life data and qualitative reporting
  • Conducts quality and risk of bias assessment of the studies
  • Develops literature review knowledge and skills through collaboration with the internal project team and the client team, as well as following trainings provided by IQVIA’s RWS Centres of Excellence
  • Works within and across internal IQVIA teams, including technical consultants responsible for quantitative project delivery
  • Supports thought leadership for literature review topics, such as preparing conference abstracts and posters, supporting development of white papers on literature reviews and guiding interns working with the team on literature reviews focused thesis topics
  • Develops knowledge of EMEA RWS offerings in literature reviews and HEOR to support in business development opportunities
  • Works with senior team to co-manage small workstreams, project tasks and thought leadership initiatives

Qualifications and desired experience

We are looking for proactive individuals with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Candidates should have a strategic mindset, the ability to identify potential issues and suggest solutions is a valued quality. Previous experience with literature reviews is essential for the role.The ideal applicant should have apt interpersonal skills and the ability to establish relationships with both internal team members and clients. As such, fluency in conversational and business English is essential. The ability to demonstrate this through slide deck development, report writing, and presentations is essential.

Desired skills and qualifications: 

  • A postgraduate degree in a relevant field (discipline such as health or bioscience-related, medicine, biomedical sciences, health economics, health policy, epidemiology, public health, or information science)
  • A good knowledge of literature review methods (PRISMA principles, Cochrane guideline for SLRs, key HTA requirements)
  • Experience with the use of databases such as EMBASE, MEDLINE, Cochrane, PubMed, etc. is essential
  • Experience with literature review methodology, conducting and reporting is essential
  • An understanding of the principles of evidence-based healthcare, critical appraisal and the interpretation and synthesis of health care research evidence is essential
  • Experience in healthcare consulting / experience in the life science industry or within academia
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with fluency in English
  • Enthusiastic about learning about systematic reviews and health care decision making
  • Proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel
