Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) Division is looking for a Director Market Access Germany (M/F/D).
The position reports into the General Manager DACH and is based in Wiesbaden, Germany. Fluent German language skills and German healthcare market experience is required to be successful in this position.
The position is responsible for securing Market Access and Reimbursement for ADC products in Germany (coding, coverage & payment).
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Understand, describe and prioritize most relevant (influential, accessible) market access stakeholders (payers, governmental bodies, industry associations, professional associations and other stakeholders) for local ADC organization/business
- Build trusted and strategic relationships with payers: understand the specific needs of payers and reimbursement-related stakeholders and identify mutually beneficial partnering opportunities
- Analyze market access trends / health policy changes and continuously map reimbursement requirements by payer type for on market products. Anticipate access barriers and cost containment risks. Negotiate funding and price (if applicable) and support our products in reimbursement negotiations and health technology assessments
- Differentiate our products adapting or evolving a global value story to a local healthcare context in order to avoid price erosion and get preference. Develop appropriate communication platforms to reinforce the value messages for our products (e.g. workshops, payer info material)
- Partner with global market access to inform product development & pricing based on MA customer needs. Develop launch plans for new products mapping out local coding, coverage and payment requirements
- Be a subject matter expert in HTA (health technology assessment) and EBM (evidence-based medicine) recommendations on Blood Glucose Monitoring (BGM) and Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM). Adapt global Health Economic (HE) models to German health care context, where appropriate build own HE models and lead publication & communication activities
- Pilot cooperation projects with various stakeholders, including providers, to support MA and collection of MA-relevant data
- Contribute actively to ADC’s global market access network by providing relevant local country input and sharing best practices.
YOUR PROFILE:
- Advanced Degree in Science, Economics or related areas. Medical Degree, Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Economics or Health Policy preferred
- At least 6 years of experience in reimbursement & Market Access functions of pharma / medical device or related functions of payers / Market Access consultancies / disease management organizations (Market Access or related functional areas)
- Broad knowledge of the German government and private payer reimbursement system
- Existing network to German market access stakeholders
- Hands on experience / understanding of diabetes and blood glucose measuring business
- Track record of peer reviewed publications
- Ability to assess impact of reimbursement policies on ADC
- Ability to develop impactful strategies & action plans to mitigate reimbursement challenges
- Engaging personality able to develop sustainable relationships with ADC relevant decision makers
- Ability to drive execution of plans with team leveraging the support of other functions
- Strong background in evidence-based medicine and / or public health and/or market access and / or competitive effectiveness research and / or health economics
- Diligence, team play and executive communication skills
