Senior Manager, Market Access Strategy and Health Economics

Reporting to the Director, Value & Access, you will be accountable for the market access strategies for the inline and future oncology portfolio and will design HTA submissions, payer evidence plans, and patient engagement approaches. In this senior position, you will use your strategic, analytical, and leadership skills to make a difference in the lives of Canadian patients.

This role also works across diverse cross-functional teams to ensure that these plans are aligned to organizational objectives and goals. This main responsibility for this role is to ensure that full access approaches are in place for the growing oncology franchise starting with HTA submissions that are designed to recognize the needs of all stakeholders in the Canadian system, designing innovative submission, evidence, and price constructs, and ensuring that payers are ready to implement efficient formulary listings.

This role works with various external stakeholders from patients and clinicians to reviewers and payers. The SMASHE role provides strategic, technical, and methodological expertise to Canadian HTA so patients can access our medicines; this includes developing key health economic dossiers, exploring public health databases for relevant evidence, and working alongside patient group advocates and Canadian clinicians to best understand how our medicines will fit into clinical practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Your role is to design and deliver market access strategies for both the public healthcare system and private payer submissions, ensuring accurate, strategic, and timely submissions for assigned portfolio.
  • With your expertise, you provide advice in navigating Canadian reimbursement processes and trends, including evidence interpretation, gap identification, payer engagement, and negotiation strategies. You provide health economic and evidentiary guidance to your cross-functional and leadership team members.
  • You strategically design economic approaches, using models and appropriate data sources, including clinical trials, epidemiological studies, SLRs, ITCs, preference studies, and public databases to unlock the value of our medicines.
  • You will build high quality decision-grade evidence, including Canadian real-world evidence (RWE) to demonstrate the value of our medicines to HTA reviewers, public system payers and private insurers, and clinical decision-makers.
  • You will chair cross-functional meetings to implement market access strategy.
  • As a Canadian market access leader, you cultivate relationships with a network of internal (global, regional colleagues) and external influencers (economists, clinicians, academics) and are skilled at communicating and presenting at conferences and payer/HTA meetings.
  • Through your leadership and collaboration with external stakeholders, AZC access initiatives support the needs of patients, providers, payers, and the Canadian healthcare system.

Qualifications :

  • Advanced education (graduate degree) in health sciences, HTA/health economics, health policy, regulatory, epidemiology, statistics, or business
  • 7+ years pharmaceutical industry and/or 5+ years HTA experience
  • Practical work experience in market access, regulatory, new product planning, pricing, evidence generation, or commercial with in-depth knowledge of the Canadian drug reimbursement landscape (HTA processes, public/private payers, health policies).
  • Demonstrated success with large agencies/institutions such as CADTH, INESSS, PMPRB, pCPA, Health Canada, or provincial payers
  • Experience with the application of health economic models (partitioned-survival analysis, Markov models, discrete event simulations, BIAs), as well other payer evidence (SLRs, ITCs, NMAs)
  • Understanding of advanced methods, such as discrete choice experiments, Bayesian modelling, technology-assisted information retrieval, and surrogacy analysis
  • Experience working with external payers, HTA experts, clinicians, and patient advocates
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams and proven multi-stakeholder project delivery in a complex environment
